Lived up to all the previous good reviews. Arrived to find we had been upgraded to a garden room - cool, comfortable, large, quiet and with a good sized bathroom and almost a dressing room as well. Hotel is very well placed - pretty near the train station, near enough to the key sites, especially Accademia and Annunziata, but well away from the tour guides leading their regiments of art lovers(?) and bored teenagers. Breakfast on the terrace - good variety of fresh food and drink and plenty of it. Nice touch of a complementary prosecco at the terrace bar. Couple of internet-connected apples available in the lobby and free wi-fi. All the reception staff we spoke with were immaculately polite and helpful - even rang to check that the pasta in their recommended restaurant was freshly made. Comfortable chairs in the hotel sitting/reading room. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Garden room was excellent

My husband and I have stayed in many hotels across Europe (usually for less than 150-200 euros per night), and this is the best hotel we've ever encountered in Europe. The hotel is spotless and stunningly beautiful, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The hotel recently underwent a renovation, making the common areas, floors, bathrooms - everything - lovely, functional, and state of the art. Marble vanities, high ceilings with decorative wood slats, polished wood floors, etc. We also had a free bottle of champagne, biscotti, and nuts in our room congratulating us on our recent marriage. The room was pin-drop quiet thanks to very thick walls and doors/windows facing a serene interior courtyard. Breakfast was tasty and pleasant, with indoor and outdoor seating options. The hotel also hosted a happy hour each evening was there, with a free drink on the first evening and a delicious charcuterie plate. All for 135 euro per night! Easy walking distance from the train station, and blocks from the central market and David statue at the Accademia. Really a stunning place - would not stay anywhere else while in Florence!

Proximity to Santa Novella station was a key factor in our hotel choice; this was a 10-12 minute walk away. The hotel was clean, rooms were spacious (we were fortunate to have a balcony overlooking the garden that gets the sun in the morning), clean and air conditioned. Breakfast was good and plentiful, with amazing coffee! Free wifi in the lobby (also has 2 imacs for guest use) and the rear terrace. The bar is situated on the first floor terrace and is very popular for pre-dinner drinks; tapas type snacks are great too! A great hotl for families and couples like, recommended. I will be back.

It is great to hear you will be back with us! We would definitely love having you again. It seems you had one of the Superior rooms with balcony, we are glad you enjoyed it. Yes from April to October we have a bar outside on the terrace for the italian "aperitivo" like you said a pre-dinner drink with typical tuscan appetizers. Thank you for writing a nice review! See you soon.

My daughter and I recently stayed here for a few nights, in one of the ground floor rooms off the courtyard, #77. The room was very large, with a sitting area, two twin beds, a dresser, and a flat screen TV on the wall. The bathroom was enormous, with both a stall shower and a bathtub, plus a toilet and a bidet! There was also a walk-in closet off the bathroom. By far the largest room we stayed in in our six city jaunt through Europe, as well as the most quiet.

The man who works the front desk during the day was very gracious and helpful. He let us check in to our room early, and he answered all questions we had, from how to get around to where to have a nice lunch. The young woman who works the desk in the evening doesn't seem to be very friendly, but she was helpful when we needed it.

The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the Duomo and the San Lorenzo market. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station. There are plenty of little trattorias and cafes nearby.

I strongly recommend Hotel Orto de Medici to anyone traveling to Florence!

Dear Guest,
We appreciate the feedback written! I am happy you and your daughter both enjoyed your stay with us in one of our very modern Deluxe rooms. Yes the Hotel is very close to many nice "non- touristy" trattorias and the center of Florence, just a 10 minute walk. Hope to see you again! Thank you for recommending!
Best Regards,
Nicki Sciortino
