The hotel is very well located and rooms are nicely decorated. But rooms with "street" view are terrible are they are extremely noisy (there is permanent traffic at night in the street and Italians are not particularly discreet as you would expect) ; windows are old and not "sound proof".
We could not sleep for two days! And this for 500 $ a night. Unless you can afford the "river view rooms", do not stay at this hotel!!

This was our second trip to the Lungarno and my wife is disabled. The hotel itself has a great location, very near the Ponte Vecchio and on the south side of the Arno, which is important, as it has no road in front of it, which means it's much quieter than the other side.

The rooms are very refined and there is a gentle hum in the Hotel as the staff glide around going about their business in a very efficient, but understated fashion. The touches of Ferragamo are clear in the detail.

It's best to take an Arno facing room and the lower rooms have lovely doors, floor to ceiling, but the higher rooms look over the roof tops to the Duomo, either is wonderful.

We ate at the Borgo San Jacopo for one evening and it is spectacular albeit not "typically" Florentine, more modern Italian in a refined way.

To give an example of their attention to detail, the breakfast room is up 4 or 5 steps, so each morning they laid a table for us in the bar area, on the flat, with the white linen etc--waiting for us each morning. It's worth asking for recommendations at the front desk, they know most restaurants in Florence and can arrange tickets etc as needed.

What can one say, we were looked after so well that it hurt to leave, It's not a cheap hotel but we feel it's worth it for the location, the details and the friendly but hugely efficient staff. Our second trip-there will be more.

Room Tip: 6th floor have great views. Lower rooms have floor to ceiling windows/doors. Take an Arno facing roo...

Checkin went smoothly until we discovered only one of the two person elevators was working, and the room assigned to us had no elevator service. You transferred at the 7th floor and walked stairs to 8th. Not a problem for most people including myself, but a big problem for my wife who has crippling arthritis. The best part of the rating is they were able to change us to a accessible room. No A/C - A/C is turned on based on time of year rather than weather patterns. Opening the windows helps, but careful for the pigeons perched right outside the window sill. Sadly disappointed in what was supposed to one of the premier hotels in Florence.

Hotel Lungarno was absolutely fabulous. The rooms were neat and tidy and spacious. The concierge men, Lorenze and Simone were so helpful and had creative suggestions for us when it came time to sight seeing. It was our first time in Italy and we do not speak the language, so I was especially pleased that the staff was so helpful! Thanks again to Hotel Lungarno!!
