I strongly recommend that you buy the ticket in advance. Many famous and beautiful paintings, sculptures. Must visit each room, hall. There is a terrace at the top, where you can drink a coffee.

We booked in advance and were there by 8.30 - queues were absolutely fine; I can see the necessity of having a rigorous system of queuing as the museum is surrounded by beautiful, tiny Florentine streets that wouldn’t stand up safely to serious crowding. Despite the numbers queuing, we did not feel at all rushed or crowded once in the museum.

The art needs no comment - it’s of course world class and fabulous.

The museum is well staffed and staff were very pleasant, welcoming and unobtrusively helpful - we had a baby in a buggy and were ushered to lifts, etc, as needed. The baby got lots of positive attention on the way, which he enjoyed (possibly more than the art...!).

We had a coffee in the museum and it was, as expected, not cheap - the cafe has beautiful views and is a pleasant place to sit. Staff, again, are very welcoming.

The building itself is absolutely stunning and would be worth a visit even without the world-class art! The views of Florence from its many windows are beautiful.

Make sure to pre book your ticket to avoid the worst of the queues. Pre booking only costs an extra €4 but could save you hours of queuing.

Also arrive early as you will need a good 6 or 7 hours to really enjoy the range of delights on show in the Uffizi (too many to mention here)

The cafe roof terrace makes for a welcome and well priced half way stopping point for resting weary feet and recharging batteries

We visited Uffizi Galleries last Tuesday. The visit was very good and worth to see. The only thing that I don't like is that we bought the tickets on line. They will advice you to print the email. When you go in to enter they will send you for the tickets and you will stay for 35 minutes in the line. So why I bought the tickets on line and for skip the line? For this reason to enter is poor but inside is very historical and we enjoyed.

Amazing gallery. Soooo much to see. We booked our tickets with a tour group and were glad we did. Not only did it help us skip the VERY long line to get in, our tour guide took us to the highlights of the gallery, which still took a few hours to do. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Florence.
