“Lots of paintings...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

OK, I'm not an art buff so I'm not going to get that excited about an art gallery, but I'm probably not that different from many other visitors to the Uffizi. We had booked tickes, but because of other scheduling problems we missed our slot. There were no more timed tickets available so we queued up at 7.30am the following morning (the gallery opens at 8.15) and got in shortly after 8.15. If you are into Renaissance art then this will be heaven - there is a huge range of work, all laid out chronologically. The English descriptions were a bit sparse though, and several rooms were closed for restoration. I remember some of the the Botticellis and there were a few other memorable paintings, but to be honest the rest of the paintings began to blur after a while and I felt like a Philistine as I walked past row after row of priceless works of art. A fantastic place, but not really my cup of tea...

“Lives up to the hype”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

It's expensive but worth it. The rooms are laid out clearly in chronological order and you can't go wrong. Whether artlover or new to art history, you can't fail to be impressed. Cafe's expensive though; eat before going in.

“Wonderful!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

We didn't realize you need to buy tickets for a slotted time. So we did have to buy tickets for the next day. There are no pictures allowed inside which was a bummer but understandable. It had amazing pieces to see.

“Outside of two Botchelli's, you need to be expert”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2012

Didn't agree with the guidebook that this was one of the world's great galleries - outside of two Botchelli's - you needed to be a expert to recognise anything else. Only one floor of art. Would not compare with other major European art galleries ?
