Seriously, stop searching and if it's available, book Relais Accademia. This hotel has absolutely everything you could possibly want for your stay in Florence. In bullet points:

1) LOCATION - Phenomenal. Step outside the hotel, turn your head to the right and the view at the end of the street, two minutes away is THE DUOMO! Two minutes in the other direction is the Accademia, which was ideal for early starts to beat the queues. Everything is in very, very easy walking distance - the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, the attractions in Oltrarno, the station. Talking of which, when looking for the hotel I can across a lot of highly rated hotels with the main selling point being that they were near the station. When my partner and I got off at the station, our first thoughts were to hope Florence wasn't all like this. The area is noisy, traffic heavy and frantic. We were completely put at ease however upon finding Relais Accademia. Not only is the location far superior to the ones in the station but the street itself is quiet despite being just off the the bustling area of the Duomo which has a great vibe well into the evening. The hotel was so quiet and I had a great night's sleep the whole time we were there (which is a rarity for me on holiday).

THE ROOM:We were so kindly upgraded into the larger room with the terrace by Federico. Not only is the terrace goregous and ideal for a late night ice cream, but the room itself is beautifully decorated and so spacious and clean. The windows, and those leading out onto the terrace have shutters outside which when closed ensure total darkness in the room. Team that up with the silence and you've got a great night's sleep!

THE MANAGEMENT: Federico could not have been more accomodating, welcoming or helpful. He gave us fantastic recommendations for lunch (GO TO LA PROSCUTTERIA!!) as soon as we arrived and issued us with a key to the front door of the building, the front door of the hotel located on the first floor) and one for our room. This meant we could come and go as we pleased, have our privacy and not worry about getting in too late. He also gave us his number in case we needed anything. We checked out at 10.30 and we were able to leave our bags in a separate room until we collected them at 6.30! (Federico had given us another key so we could pick up the bags whenever suited us).

In short if you're looking for an amazingly located hotel in Florence, close to everything, peaceful, beautifully furnished and warm and accomodating management BOOK THIS HOTEL!

We stayed for 3 nights in late September and received a very friendly welcome from Federico. He upgraded us to the larger room with a terrace and en-suite which was excellent (after checking out we did store our luggage in a smaller room which uses a bathroom along the hall - both were clean and of a high standard). A very convenient location, just out the front door onto via Ricasoli and less than 5 minutes to the Duomo. Federico highlighted key points of interest for us on local maps and literature which was really helpful. We had breakfast vouchers for the OK café nearby, a very simple breakfast (coffee, juice & pastry ) served by friendly staff, this was all we needed to start the day. (it's helpful to let Federico know what time you plan to arrive, then you can be sure he answers the bell at the door on the street to buzz to let you in to access the first floor). Overall we were delighted with our choice which helped us to enjoy our stay in this amazing city.

This great little hotel was fantastically situated on the Via Ricasoli which runs between the Galleria DellAccademia and the Duomo. Our room was clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and airy. However it was on the front of the building which meant noise until around 11.30pm and then silence. Next time we visit I will arrange a room at the rear, all of which looked to be to the same high standard although smaller. The hotel has no reception but the owner was regularly about morning and afternoon and was contactable by phone at other times.
All in all, very good value for money without compromising on quality.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the back

We stayed here in early April and were very pleased with our choice. Despite being right in the middle of all the action, the room was very quiet and comfortable. We stayed in the larger suite with the attached terrace, which was great for relaxing after a day of sight-seeing. The room was spacious, clean, bright and well-appointed, in an ecclectic/traditional style. The bathroom was a reasonable size and very clean and functional.

The host, Federico, was friendly and helpful and even arranged for a taxi to the airport early the morning of our departure. Federico was not available when we arrived, so we were welcomed by his charming and gracious parents.

This is not a typical hotel - it is a small, five room property - but it offers everything you need for a visit to this great city. It is located only minutes from both the Duomo and Galleria Accademia, and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is around the corner at the OK Bar and is basic but very good.

We highly recommend the Relais Accademia and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room tip: The slightly higher cost of the larger room with the terrace is well worth it.

This tiny hotel in the very heart of Florence offers excellent value for money. Your sightseeing tour beggins right after the door. The owner is very hospitable and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable.
