As a young American woman who has been living in Italy for a couple years, I have seen the good and horribly bad when it comes to European hostels, B&B's, apartment rentals and hotels. The Relias Accademia is, by far, one of the best establishments I have ever stayed at. It was my mother's first trip to Italy/Europe and I knew that Florence was a must-see city for any Italian tourist. From 4 previous experiences I also knew that Florence hotels tend to both dissapoint and over-charge. When we arrived from the train station Federico graciously welcomed us into the cool interior of the building (which surrounds a quiet and beautiful courtyard) and showed us to our room. The room (the terrazza room) is spacious and tastfully decorated room with a lovely bathroom, a small dining table, working A/C (although it was never needed) and double doors opening to a beatiful terrace with a sun table.
Although the Relias is only a 5-10 minute walk from the Duomo, the San Lorenzo market and the Galleria Accademia, it is the most peaceful, clean, secure hotel I have yet to stay in in Europe (which is nice after a 9 hour flight). The cafe for breakfast is just up the block and the proprietors are very nice and even provided a celiac-friendly breakfast for my mother.
Federico was also very helpful in printing out tickets, giving advice and even mailing my cellphone that I accidentally left in the room.
Overall a perfect stay for a experienced traveller and her jet-lagged mother in one of the most visited cities in the world.

Oh yeah, free internet!!!

Room Tip: Terrazza room is definitely worth the extra money

the location is perfect - 2 m from the Duomo, and despite of that - my room, which faced a little garden was so silence, that i could even have rest during the day! Federico was so helpful and nice! he did the best i feel comfortable, including very good recomendations for restaurants, printing my ticket reservations on Web and occuring in not more than 10 m when i needed some help! i defenetly come back here, and recomends all my friends!

This is listed as a B & B. It should be listed more as a pensione as there is no breakfast and no maid service. However the room was very clean, and even though it is situated in the heart of the Duomo area, it was very quiet and charming in that the rooms are located in a building with other apartments.
