We stayed 5 nights in the red room. Very comfortable bed, effective air con, lovely big bathroom, all very clean. Very pleased with the room.
Edo was an excellent host, and could not have been more helpful throughout our stay. he also provided a map with the bus numbers to go to Saint Marco which is the limit for traffic (thankfully) Choice of bus every 20 mins at most, bus stop 50 meters away, or outside the house coming back. tickets 1.20 euros anywhere, valid for 90 mins. We had Firenze card+ which includes the buses, and you do get priority entrance for all the museums which was great for us with the 40 degree heat when we were there.

We took No 7 bus (stop just across the road) up the hill to Fiesole (15 min ride and well worth it for the great views over the city and the roman remains with excellent museum)

We used local café for breakfast at local prices, and being in this neighbourhood, using the buses etc and the shops, felt more 'in tune' with the locals who were all forgiving of our poor Italian.

Can recommend PIzzaman for a good meal, buy bus tickets from the sop opposite the house, and water and wine from the little shop almost next door.

Can recommend Il Giglio d'oro (highly)

The B&B was comfortable and clean. Edo was an excellent host, very attentive and had made some very good recommendations for bus travel around the city, restaurants, etc. The pastry and coffee shop around the corner was fantastic.

We spent 2 nights at the Il Giglio d'Oro at the start of June. Located approx 10 minute bus ride to the old city and approx 30-40 amble. The room we had was lovely, excellent bathroom and had a balcony to enjoy a glass of wine or two. The rooms have fridges so you can reuse water bottles rather than having to buy new every day.
The two best things about this B&B are Edo and his family ( the host, his wife and daughter) and the patisserie across road. Edo could not be more friendly and helpful, he showed us the local area and he seemed to know everyone we came across( the Pizzaman Restaurant does some great pizzas!) He a rather jolly chap and genuinely seems to enjoy helping people :)
The Patisserie is possibly the best patisserie we have been to. For 4 euros, we had two coffees and 2 crossiants. They were amazing, cannot recommend this or the B&B enough!

Room Tip: Yellow room was the best one

Friendly and down to earth owners, it is a short walk from the Firenze campo Marte station or a short bus ride to Santa Maria Novella. Lots of good eateries around, gelato, cafes, restaurants.. you could spend a few days here just eating within 2 mins walk. Convenient to catch the bus to city and Fiesole. We stayed in the Red room- it was large with a balcony, it was clean and comfy.

I choose Il Giglio d'Oro based on the excellent reviews and can only repeat what other travelers say: it was a wonderful experience - Edoardo and Celia are warm and generous hosts that made my stay in Florence feel like home. My room was comfortable, clean, and it felt like staying with a family rather then being a tourist. Any sights are easily accessible by busses very close the the guest house and the café Edoardo suggested for breakfast is excellent!
