“Cibo onesto e conto pure”
Reviewed 16 December 2011

“Good food, great prices, no frills”
Reviewed 21 November 2011

We visited this ristorante on a Sunday night and found it nearly empty. The food was very good, portions hearty and the prices were the lowest we found in Florence.
For example, my parpedelle with boar ragu was 7 E here and 14 E at the Accademia down the street. My portion was almost twice as much at Zio Gigi and the quality even better!
Zio's has little curb appeal but don't let that deter you. The wine, a local Cab/Sangiovese blend was outstanding and only 18 E.
We got a wonderful pomodoro salad loaded with fresh, ripe delicious tomatoes for 3 E.
Our entire bill, with coperta/aqua/vino/insalate and pasta was 44 E. Opps, plus we had cappucinos!!!

“Great Food/Great Time”
Reviewed 16 November 2011

Great atmosphere, great people and awesome food. We were looking for a casual dining experience with great food and a small family owned feel and Zio Gigi was perfect. The wait staff was so friendly, made great suggestions for food and wine and the Owner was so much fun to watch as he entertained all the patrons with his singing of Italian songs!

“Must try "Gigi special"”
Reviewed 13 November 2011

We also got our referral from Hotel Alessandra's reception staff. Uncle "Gino" is a great host. The place has a mix of tourists and locals (sit in the back room). On our second visit, we made it into the back room with the locals where i got to peek inside the kitchen.

I was glad to take a risk with the Gigi special. It appeared to be a juicy filet mignon on a bread of fresh rockets with porcini mushrooms. The portions are very generous and service is excellent.
