“we were not disappointed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2012

After a lot of research we felt that B & B Oliveto would suit our requirements It was clear that Danatella was keen on the personal touch and her attention to detail shone through our stay there . Everything about the house, the breakfasts and the conversations had that extra touch of care and attention that leaves a lasting impression .We were highly satisfied with our room the beautiful terrace patio breakfasts with delicious pancakes, fruit ,drizzled olive oil breads expressos all served with a smile and a seamingly effortless perfection .We actually preferred that side of the Arno and loved meandering back via Santo Spirito and stopping for a spritzer or a coffee after a long hot day in the city .Donatella was always available to answer any queries and we felt very welcome.there was a nice atmosphere that made breakfasts interesting and an enjoyable start to the day Well done Donatella for giving so much care to your guests We did appreciate it and would not hesitate to recommend her establishment ! Thank you

Mount Oliveto is located across the river from the heart of Florence. It's only a 15 minute walk to the city center, but it's nice being tucked away from all the tourists. Donatella and Nicolò were absolutely delightful hosts! Donatella answered all of our questions about the city and even more. She gave great restaurant recommendations, offered to make reservations for us and call a taxi if we needed it. The backyard of the house is beautiful -- such a perfect little garden hidden on the hillside of Florence. Herbs and small plants are perfectly scattered around. Breakfast is served outside in the backyard. Words cannot describe how delicious the breakfast is! Fresh fruit, bruschetta, cheese, jams and spreads, raw honey, crepes, breakfast cakes, coffee, tea and homemade juice fill the table. My husband and I have stayed at dozens of B&B across Europe and the United States, and this by far has been our favorite! If we are in Florence again, Mount Oliveto will be the place we stay.

My husband and I and two of our teenaged children just returned from a 3 week trip to Italy. We started our trip in Florence at the beautiful bed and breakfast of Donatella and her husband Nicolo in the Oltrarno neighbourhood. From this location we were easily able to thoroughly tour the city of Florence, do two days of bicycle tours(one in the city and one in the Tuscan countryside), and make side day trips into Tuscany by bus (or train if we had wanted to). We stayed for 8 nights and were totally satisfied and happy! We easily transferred to this B&B location from the airport by taxi when we arrived (20 euro plus bags), and easily transferred to the train station by taxi (10 euro plus bags) and out to Venice via the highspeed train when we moved on. Donatella is truly an exceptional hostess, providing all the information a tourist needs and excellent recommendations for eating, ranging from less expensive to more expensive meals. The rooms are beautifully and artistically decorated by Donatella and scrupulously clean, with cleaning services provided each and every day. The beds and pillows were wonderful and provided us with restful nights, the air conditioning in the rooms worked well and the atmosphere was beautiful and classic Italian! Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, with homemade, locally produced and organic foods including chilled homemade juices by Donatella and refreshing herbal teas as well as cappucino, espresso,or cafe Americano. Our 16 yr old son David especially missed those delicious breakfasts and Donatella's cappucino when we moved on!!! The historic centre was all within walking distance, and we only ever used a bus to reach the St Croce district, Piazalle Michelangelo, and for a day trip to Siena--bus stops for these places and others in the historic centre were within very short walking distance of the B&B as well. We stayed in La Mansarda and Donatella additionally offered our son a second room all for an excellent daily price. La Mansarda had a very small but well equipped kitchen so that we were able to eat in our suite for 4 of our nights stay, and we easily bought our wine and ingredients for these suppers from the local markets and butchers. The two suites in the B&B have balconies to enjoy as well. Both suites look out in the direction of the green hill at the base of Monte Oliveto The internet connection was a bit patchy on some days and locations in the house, but if we could not access internet on our computer, Donatella was also happy to allow us to use her computer for any internet searching we needed to do or she would search for us. This was a truly lovely bed and breakfast to bring my family to for our first trip to Italy, and we would not hesitate to rebook with Donatella and Nicolo in the future! Grazie Mille, Donatella e Nicolo! We have beautiful memories and a warm place in our heart for B&B Monte Oliveto!

A girlfriend and I just recently stayed for 4 nights at Monte Oliveto. We were taking a goldsmithing course at Alchemia, a contemporary school for goldsmithing. The school had recommended this B&B place because of the walking distance to the school. As it turned out, it was really only a 10 minute walk. We were so happy because we were right in the middle of the old part of Florence (the old city walls were just around the corner) and at the same time located on the bottom of the foothills of Monte Oliveto. So when we took a walk, we were immediately out off and above Florence, looking down on the Dome and all the rest of lovely Florence. Perfect!
Donatella and her husband were delightful and helpful, giving us valuable tips as to where to go and where to eat. We immediately felt at home! The rooms were very clean and the breakfast deliciously homemade.
If we should ever come again to Florence, this will be the place to stay!

We (family with 2 older children) stayed in Florence 2 nights - not far away from historical center of Florence. We was very satisfied with Donatella , who provided for us all necessary tourist information, guides and maps. House is nice and room was clean .we have a nice small terrace, whre we spent soem time. Breakfest was good too, prepared from local bio -resources
To be absolutely satisfied, we missed reliable wifi connection. Wifi was there, but not very reliable.
On the other hand, we were there, see Florence sightseeing and not spent time on Internet. So it deserves 5 star

Thank you Donatella
