We loved the location of the hotel. While the hotel is very basic, the owner and the people who work there are very nice. We normally stay in nicer hotels and at first were disappointed with just how basic these rooms were. We did not know to request a room with a view, but were lucky enough to get one. The best room in the hotel (we saw 3 rooms, but also could tell by looking from the outside) is room #31. Great view, quiet room and is probably the largest room. The other rooms we saw were smaller (including the bathrooms).
All in all, we were very glad we stayed here and used the money we would have spent on a fancier hotel on the great Italian food in Sicily!

Room Tip: Ask for room 31!

This hotel is basic, yet really charming. And Graziela (the owner) and her staff did everything to make us feel at home. As a bonus they speak really good english - which helps. The breakfast is simple, but OK. And the view over Etna and the coastline from the breakfast terrace is totally amazing. The location - directly at Corso Umberto is ideal for strolling around in this charming town. Me and my fiancé really enjoyed our staying here and hope to return one day.

Had 2 nights here in Sept 2011. Had the car, which I parked at the multi story car park. Was only about 5 mins walk fro there to the hotel. The hotel is right on the main street in Taormina. It's a very busy street, though pedestrianised so it was not that noisy. Our room was facing the street, but do not recall hearing any street noise at night, even though the street was very busy with tourists.
The breakfast was good and could be eaten on the terrace.
Only grouse was that the room did not appear to have air conditioning, so it was very hot in the room at night. Think this was the only hotel we stayed at in Sicily which did not have air con in the room.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Taormina is a nice resort, quite upmarket, though it is very touristy. It's good for a couple of nights or maybe to use as a base for touring the area.

Management response:Responded 8 October 2011

Hallo Mr. Gareth,

Thank you for your precious and pleased review. We are always happy to read the comments from people who actually stayed in our small family run hotel.

I just want to be clear about the A/C.
All the room are furnished of A/C so I found your comment a little weird. Every room has his own split machine because we believe no all the guests have the same needs, so you can decide at what temperature you want to sleep.
I really believe you didn't notice it, even if it sound very uncommon to me.

By the way I hope your vacation was good and to have the chance to have you again as guest.

Regards
Alessandro

I stayed in this Hotel for nearly 2 weeks with my mother and sister and it was just perfect for us! The room was average size, cleaned every day always fresh towels and we had a FAB view from our balcony onto the courtyard where there was always something to look at be it a wedding or just the view itself is unreal :) The staff are more than helpful, its family run by a mother and her son who is extremely nice and they both have excellent english! Also Nando the night porter is so friendly and nice and didnt mind opening the door to us at late hours!! It is in a perfect location right on the main street beside all boutiques, shops and bars, restaurants galore! Breakfast is included, its a buffet you can just help yourself every morning and lots to choose from! There is beach transfer from hotel to a selection of FAB beaches! I recommend Stockholm it is by far the nicest after we tried them all, and the staff on reception will organise your pick up at your request.
I cannot say enough aboutTaormina itself, have been there twice now and its just heaven to me, the nicest most beautiful place I have been yet! I want to go back again next year so if you have not been there yet go go go you will not regret!!
Happy Holidays :) I hope this was helpful!

This hotel was in the ideal location to explore the beautiful town of Taormina. The hotel is very well run and the staff are friendly and helpful, with excellent English. The rooms were average size, but our room had a beautiful view of the sea! The breakfast included in the price is great and service was fast and polite. I would recommend this hotel as a perfect place to discover Taormina from!
