We stayed here for 3 nights. The view from our terrace of the coastline and Mount Etna is incredible. However, you are a long way up the mountain from restaurants or shops. We had a car and used the hotel shuttle which was great but would have liked to walk to more restaurants, especially since the hotel restaurant was closed for dinner during our stay.
We also found that noise carried a lot. Since we were on the floor directly beneath the reception area and lounge, we heard every scrape of a chair or conversation going on above us. As there weren't many guests during our stay and the evenings were cool, this wasn't a big problem but I think that it would be in warm weather when everyone sat out later at night.
However, the hotel staff can't be beat; from the front desk to the shuttle driver (sometimes the same person!), to the breakfast staff and housekeepers. Whether we wanted a drink, a snack, a ride to town, or needed help with planning a tour, they were wonderfully helpful and friendly. If you want to settle in for a relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of Taormina, this is a good choice.More
