“Excellent location and great house, friendly owners”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 for a stay in August 2013

We've been to Casa Ella in Taormina last summer (August 2013). The owners were really helpful and provided all necessary details. Our plane was delayed, but Isabella met us late in the evening and took us to this lovely house. The house is equipped with everything that you need, nice and modern furniture and AC in all rooms. There is this great terrace on the top floor (equipped with everything you need for a barbecue) with amazing view.
The only thing that we dislike here was that in the early morning hours (6-7 AM) they are collecting the garbage and they are making a lot of noise. Otherwise the location is great, a lot of restaurants with amazing food, bars and shops near. People and shop owners are really friendly.
We rented a car at the Catania airport and there is a big parking place where you can leave it before entering the city center (you are not allowed with a car in the city center). From the parking lot there is a free bus taking you directly to the city center every 15 minutes (even often during rush hours).
Also next to the bus station in the city center there is this travel agency that organize trips to ETNA volcano and many other attractions. As we had a car we went on our own but we got the necessary information.
There is a great small market place where they have fresh vegetables and fresh fishes, but you really need to go there in the early morning hours.
All in one, we had a great experience and a lovely holiday in Taormina at Casa Ella.

“Perfect Stay”
Reviewed 25 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Casa Ella is the perfect place to stay in Taormina, it is close to all attractions, shops and restaurants. The property itself was fitted out with quality furniture and fittings and there is nothing to want for. You can spend hours looking down from the balcony at the world passing by and all the activities at the restaurants below. We were met by Isobella who directed us to the property which is only a few hundred metres from Porto Messina (the stone arch at one end of Taormina, the other end has Porto Catania). If arriving by train you will need to catch a taxi which will cost around 15 euro, except on Sunday's when it's around 20 euro.Be aware that on Sunday's the train from Taormina to Catania has a limited timetable. Arriving at 10.30 am we were astounded that the next train was at 3.00 pm, luckily there was a bus stop outside and they took us for around 8 euro each.
Directly below is a deli/general store when you can buy wine and beer as well as some groceries. Also below is a bakery, it is well worth trying some of their fresh bread and pastries. Across the road is the Bam Bar which has really good granitas and down below to the right is Myle Restaurant. The property is very close to the Greek theatre and if you are 65 or older and can present a passport or copy, you can get in for free.
Taormina itself is quite stunning, the views are amazing with some many "wow" moments. It is a bit like Positano on steroids. If you go down to the beach, the best way is via the cable car and the beach is primarily pebbles so you need thongs or soft rubber souled shoes that they sell for around 10 euro.
If you want to have a great Cannoli the place to go is Pasticceria-Gelateria D'Amore. They make them on the premises as well as other pasteries. It is up from Porto Messina on the corner.
All in all a great place to stay in a great place.

“Fantastic Location , Great House with all facilities”
Reviewed 18 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Fantastic location with great facilities, we went with our son and his girlfriend who are 27 years of age and are well travelled, they said it was the best place they had stayed and raved about how nice Taormina was.
The house has everything you could want, would not recommend for elderly persons as there are a lot of steps, and Taormina is also very hilly.
Chris the owner made everything easy for us and recommended Salvatore to take us to and from the airport, we would certainly endorse this, and Salvatore was very good.
All in All a perfect holiday, would highly recommend

“Lovely house in a great location”
Reviewed 2 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed at Casa Ella the beginning of August for our second holiday in lovely Taormina and really enjoyed our time at the house. The accomodation itself had absolutely everything you could need and was furnished to a high standard making for a very comfortable stay - there was nothing at all that we could have wanted that was not in the house. The house is fully air conditioned but is also quite shady so it did not get uncomfortably hot inside at any time. The roof terrace is amazing though with full sun in the afternoon should you wish to go sunbathing and some shade for the morning/evening. Our favourite routine was a glass of wine on the roof terrace early evening, admiring the view over Taormina before venturing out for dinner, lovely! The location is central so you can literally step outside the house and find a choice of bars and restaurants, but it is on a small side street so noise isn't a problem. There is also a lovely general shop next door where you can buy most things you will need and they offer a good choice of cheese, meats and wine and are extremely friendly.

Personally we were quite happy not to have Wifi, as to be honest when in a location as lovely as Taormina who wants to even think about e-mail etc. but you can access Wifi in the Bam Bar if you need to. As a final point, upon arriving back in the UK (sadly), our security deposit was returned in full in a matter of days.

We have no negative points at all to say about Casa Ella as we absolutely loved it and when we go back to Taormina next time, we will certainly be looking at staying here again. Thank's Chris and Pauline for a lovely stay (and Isabella for the warm welcome).

“Modern villa in the heart of Taormina old town”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We had a wonderful week here for a family with two adult children.

The villa is well appointed with a good size double bedroom and twin bedroom, two bathrooms, small living / TV room, good kitchen and a roof top terrace with a good BBQ set up. The roof top is extremely hot in the day in summer (unfortunately it has no shade) but is lovely for an evening BBQ once the sun goes down and the bubbly sounds of the town and music surrounds you. All modern furnishings, stylish, and well maintained. Our only minor quibble is that it currently lacks wifi and you have to go to the nearby bar, The only other concern one could have is that it is four flights of stairs if that is a problem for some people plus you can have more than 4 using the sofa bed in the living room but this would be a bit inconvenient. We were there in a hot week of August and the rooms are well shaded and the air conditioning is excellent.

The neighbourhood is great. You are in the heart of the Taormina town but being a side street it is not too noisy. Below you is a friendly shop for basics plus cheese, wine and cured meats. Next door is the little bakery to get fresh loaves in the morning. One along is Myle a friendly restaurant. And opposite is Bam Bar famous for its Granitas and morning coffee. In the evening musicians come to sing in the laneways by the restaurant. Staying here you really feel you are enjoying a genuine Taormina experience.
