Our guide was waiting at the pier to take us on our tour. We had arranged the tour with 3 other couples from our ship. During the drive to Taormina our guide, Antonia told us various things about the island and answered all of our questions. He took us to a small chapel high on the hill above Taormina with a beautiful view. When we got to Taormina, he dropped us off and gave us some insights on exploring the village. On a side note, the cannoli we had was the best I've ever tasted, We explored the ancient theater and the village for around 90 minutes. Then it was on to Gambino Winery on the side of Mt. Etna.
Gambino Winery provided one of the best wine tastings I've experienced. Plenty of nice wines and a very nice sampler lunch around a table for 8. It was a terrific way to spend the afternoon.
On the way back to the ship, we stopped in Messina so that we could visit the cathedral and see the downtown square.
All in all, a great day in Sicily. I would recommend Sicily Life Tours. They were easy to work with via email to set up the tour and did a great job while we were there.

We did the "Unknown Sicilian Villages / Godfather Tour and Taormina with Alessandro. He picked us up at the cruise ship. Alessandro speaks English fluently and was very informative and knowledgeable. Everything about the tour was top notch. We highly recommend this company for an unforgettable experience.

We took the 7 hour tour and it was worth every penny. Antonio picked us up at our remote B&B and took care of our every need. I just can’t tell you how cool this tour was. Very comfortable Mercedes van also.

We went on a private day tour with Santo. He picked us up from our hotel in Taormina at 9am. Santo’s English is good and he’s very knowledgeable. His car was a people carrier and it was very comfortable. We managed to see lots of the Montalbano sights, including Montalbano’s house by the beach, Enzo’s restaurant, the police station and various churches in Ragusa and Modica. We got back to our hotel at about 8pm. It was a long day but absolutely worthwhile. It was great to see the places we’ve seen in the series as well as to visit this part of Sicily - we loved the old town of Ragusa and the beach at Punta Secca.

We booked both our transfers and a tour through Sicily Life. They were super easy to communicate with, prompt and the luxury vehicles are lovely.

Our Godfather/Hidden Villages tour with Roberto was an amazing day out. Seriously, visit Sicily in Winter! We had the roads to ourselves, the attractions to ourselves and got some amazing photos. Roberto was a knowledgeable, fun and friendly guide- we loved his infectious personality and had so much fun with him. He went above and beyond to ensure we found a good local spot for lunch even though many restaurants were closed for low season. Seeing Taormina and the Messina coast from a local perspective was such a wonderful experience, highly recommend!
