We were very disappointed with this hotel. Our room was terrible. The smell was unbearable.
There was no WiF in room 1.
Breakfast was average, nothing special.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

Stylish and charming hotel in a center of Ortigia (historical center of Syracuse) that faces the sea, has two nice terraces and pretty rooms. The hotel offers healthy breakfasts and the staff is helpful.

We found this hotel great value and really friendly. It really has a certain charm about it and all the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We paid €700 for 2 rooms 3 nights with breakfast included.

Highly recommended as a bolt hole for seeing The city.

Well located, beautifully furnished, and highly recommended. However, prepare yourselves for a very narrow shower cubicle - getting under those armpits will require some dexterity. Also, breakfast can be a little chaotic as there aren't enough tables for all the rooms. This is something I think the hotel management should think about a bit more, in case they can create a few more covers. Also, just one salt pot for the whole room? You might think that is petty but it can create needless conflict, say, if one particularly arrogant client wants to have it on her table and others want salt on their eggs too. Catch my drift? Invest in a few more salt and pepper pots Hotel Gutkowski! For all that, this gets 5 stars from us. Great hotel. They also make great cocktails and you can take them up to the sun terrace too.

We chose this hotel as it offered sea views and a cool, designer beach vibe. We upgraded to a plus room with seaview and balcony although be aware that the main house is opposite a high sea wall so the sea views directly opposite are over the wall, although the side views are over the sea and rocky shore in one direction and towards Syracuse in the other.
The room and bathroom were not huge but this is an old house that has been converted rather than a corporate type hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the balconies a lovely asset in the early morning and evening when it was a little fresher.
Air conditioning is excellent and you are able to turn it off in the room, not sure why other reviewers didn't seem to do this if they were too cold.
Breakfast was very simple but good, cereals, fresh pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses and breads. Coffee and tea were both available though they are both serve yourself.
Location excellent for wandering around the beautiful little alleyways and walks around the island.
We took the Interbus from Catania airport to Syracuse then had a twenty five minute walk to the hotel, though there are local buses if the walk is too far or it's too hot.
Loved Ortigia and enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Thank you to the lovely lady in the reception who patiently chatted to me ( and let me chatter too) in Italian!

Room tip: Sea view rooms with balconies are worth the extra ( check the adjacent building for clearer views)
