“Not the best choice for this business traveler”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012

I chose this hotel for business trip based on Trip Advisor reviews.
Unfortunately I could not be as enthusiastic. After the first night I moved to another hotel.
While the hotel is a boutique, small hotel, and the staff was friendly, the small lobby charming....
the room itself was not going to work for a week + of work.

There is no wireless Internet access, therefore I could only use the wired option from the uncomfortable desk (not set up for actual work at a desk). The bed was super-hard and room itself was cramped and depressingly dated.
Breakfast was disappointing, with primarily croissants and sweet rolls as bread choices. I was told eggs were an extra cost (2Euros).

We stayed here for 1 night after arriving in Catania late at night. The hotel was very welcoming and was a comfortable place to arrive. Service was excellent, and the breakfast was great.

Restaurants were closed by the time we got there, and the desk clerk arranged to have a light meal served to us, which was greatly appreciated.

The room was nice, clean and comfortable, if a bit small. We had a suite, but the bedroom was so small that we had to use the living room to store our suitcases. This was fine for a night, but would have been a bit crowded for an extended stay.

A fantastic little oasis tucked away in a small street near the city centre. Catania can be a bit rough around the edges, but this hotel was extremely classy and their service was fantastic. Breakfast was adequate.

Francesco, at the front desk, was the consummate host, going out of his way to make us feel comfortable and cared for. We were given advice about navigating the city - we only had an afternoon and an evening - and suggestions for where to dine. Breakfast the next morning was lovely and our taxi driver arrived well in advance of the appointed time - a bonus, as it turned out, for we were able to get on an earlier flight.

Loved the little outdoor patio in back.

In all, a most gracious spot.

This is a charming, elegant hotel with a wonderful and knowledgeable staff.
My daughter and I were so well taken care of, I felt like family. The hotel is lovely and charming and the staff even more so! The front desk helped me with everything - taxis, restaurants, walking around the city, day trips out of the city, snacks at odd hours - they could not have been kinder or more generous with their time and knowledge.
The traveler should be aware that the hotel is not on a main shopping or sight seeing street, but tucked away on a residential block, that is a 5 to 10 minute walk to anywhere you want to go. This was not a problem as I felt safe and learned the way quickly. On another trip to Catania I stayed for one night on Via Etna, a main blvd. at a "fancy" modern hotel. It felt like what it is: a corporate chain with bad food. The location wasn't worth the trade off in quality. If and when I return to Catania, I would for certain stay at The Liberty Hotel.
