We arrived at this large restaurant well before opening but the staff were happy for us to sit outside where they have plenty of seating, and have an aperativo while we waited. We ordered the selection of cheese and ham to start which came with jam, honey and flatbreads - that was great and a large portion even for two sharing. The pizzas were slightly hit and miss but overall I would say they were good. Any issues were dealt with quickly. The vegetariana pizza was good (base slightly overlooked) and the piccante pizza was delicious (as an FYI they don't add loads of the very spicy sausage and it kind of blends in with the mozzarella). I asked for some extra salami to be added and the end result was amazing...

My wife and I were staying in the very nearby Duomo B&B and, after looking at Trip Advisor reviews, decided to give Mareria Prima a try. This is after two weeks dining in Rome and Siracusa. We were very pleasantly surprised. My wife's seafood fettuccine was very good, although slightly too salty. My risotto was terrific, but also a bit too salty, possibly because of the prosciutto it contained. This is a top notch restaurant with an extensive wine list and a very pleasant dining environment in a renovated old stone building.
