Owner description: You will think you were transported to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, when you gaze upon these well-preserved temple ruins.

Truly amazing site. The two temples that have been reconstructed have been done some sympathetically and give just a glimpse and impression of their magnificence. Even just walking among the massive ruined columns gives a sense of awe.

It is worth it to book the electric carts as there is so much to see and it is a vast site.
If you are exhausted you can skip the farthest site - especially as most of the finds are in the museum.

The site is quite large, but easily accessible. The two sections are connected by a road that you can drive or take a shuttle. The one temple that has been re-erected allows the visitor to walk on the inside, which is not allowed at most other ancient Greek sites. Signage is very clear and in Italian and English.

Take your time and walk slowly among the pieces of limestone. Appreciate their size. Then, go to Cave di Cusa (same entry ticket) to see where Selinunte's columns were quarried.

Selinunte was my favorite archaeological site in Sicily. First, it wasn’t crowded at all, and we could poke around almost alone in some instances. Secondly, only one temple has been very restored, but there are other temples that are partially intact so that you see archaeology in its process and can use your imagination to reconstruct the site and even find things that others have not come across. When we finished visiting the east temples, we saw people straggling in the hot sun over the long path to the Acropolis on another hill, since they didn’t realize that you can walk back to the parking lot instead and then drive up to the Acropolis. We ended up making two trips from the Acropolis back to the parking lot to ferry tired visitors but met some wonderful people that way.

Italy has a lot of ruins, but not many of them are Greek. Selinunte is a really cool complex of Greek ruins that you can walk though. While many of them are in rather poor condition, some have been reconstructed / restored and are stunning!

I did not regret making the trip to Selinunte one bit!

The temples of Selinunte is a good reason to visit this place. The ticket cost €6 and you can walk alone or with one of the guides. The temples are impressive by their area size. I would recommend to visit in the early morning hours as the heat and sun can be too much in the afternoon. Still make sure to bring water and sports shoes.
