We stayed at this hotel the night before flying out of Caligiari airport. it is about 10 minutes by taxi from the airport. We thought there would be a shuttle service, but it wasn't operating. The taxi costs 18 Euros to the terminal.
The hotel is modern with ample parking outside. Our room was modern, clean and comfortable. The only problem was that we could clearly hear our next door neighbour coughing and talking at night. He could probably hear us as well!!
Dinner in the restaurant starts at 20:00, so be aware!! The food was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast wasn't as nice, with very limited options, but, of course, Italians don't "do" big breakfasts in general. It was a decent continental breakfast.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We could definitely imagine staying here again and taking a bus in to Caligiari to do some sightseeing,

Hotel Grillo is a little of the beaten track but is well connected to Cagliari and the airport by bus and train.
It is really a business hotel, but the pool is good for relaxing by after a hard day's sightseeing. Service was very good and the breakfast more than adequate

Room Tip: The location is very quiet so no problem in any room

I was in this hotel for one night, in December 2016 The room was absolutely perfect!! People and service really nice; nice breakfast. I had read one comment saying that a railway track is behind the hotel. This is true, but it is far away from the hotel, and honestly, how many trains run in Sardinia?!! One per hour??! I really want to say that this is a great hotel; I recommend it! and myself, I will go back.

Room Tip: c'est un super hôtel!

Warm welcome on arrival & our room was ready, good start as we thought we'd have to wait.
Our room was large, I wouldn't call it a suite which was what it was advertised as. Nice balcony looking out over the front of the hotel but dead foliage in the flower boxes & an abundance of cigarette stubs was definitely a let down. The floor was wooden with very worn rugs & lots of fluff balls around the sofa & under the bed. The bathroom had an over bath shower with separate taps for the bath. Unfortunately the mechanism for the plug didn't work, it was cracked & the water didn't hold in any of the units - bath, sink or bidet. The shower curtain was mouldy & stained as was some of the silicone around the bath, with some of it peeling. The TV was tiny! Only 22 inch, hardly worth it! All these small things add up & go against the 4 star rating, attention to detail is a must. We arrived on a Sunday & discovered that the restaurant was closed on Sundays, not great for a 4 star! The bar was really just an extension of reception & was manned by whoever was on duty, not a wide range on offer.
However, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in at a hotel, great nights sleep! The staff were great, willing to help & very obliging. Our safe didn't work & it was replaced the same day. The housekeeping lady was lovely, after only 2 days she realised that we weren't early leavers & would come to clean our room later. The car park is a bonus but be prepared to squeeze in if they have a meeting on! When we did eat in the restaurant the food was ok with average prices. The area around the hotel is quiet but has plenty of places to go - there's a pizzeria across the road, a bar on the left & a trattoria further down. If you don't mind walking there are decent bar/restaurants about 15 minutes away, just turn left & keep walking. There's a bus stop just outside the hotel & takes about 30 minutes to get to the centre where you can get an array of buses & trains to travel around the island. As others have said, airport is only 10 minutes away by taxi, we paid €20.
Overall it's a good hotel in a great location but needs updating.
