This was our first visit to Venice. Many people had told us it was a wonderful place to visit and we thought we had picked the best place to stay. According to the Trip Advisors reviews this hotel was rated 3rd in Venice! Everything started off wellish. The hotel is beautiful, there is no getting away from that, although a lot of the furniture appears mostly reproduction, the murals are tastefully renovated.
When we arrived we were shown to our Junior Suite and found that there was no shower, only a bath, which for two Oldies is a bit of a worry. No bedside tables, just a shelf at the back of the bed (a disaster waiting to happen) nowhere to put our suitcases away, an adjoining door which meant we had to endure the couple in the room next to us enjoying their nuptuals, and a noisy aircon unit. The aircon wouldnt go below 21 degrees despite it being set to 18 degrees.
We complained about the bath and were offered a room change the next day as nothing was available that day, on condition that we reported to reception at 11am to facilitate the changeover. When you are in venice for three days you dont want to spend a day moving rooms, so we decided to stay put and manourvre each other out of the bath each morning.
Breakfast and service staff excellent. Batbat coctails and staff excellent.
Charge of €180 to arrive from the airport arranged by the hotel. We arranged our own return to the airport online for €100!
Restaurants recommended by the staff in the hotel were not of a good standard and expensive despite asking for reasonably priced restaurants. We managed to find some much better ones ourselves.
And finally, when we checked out, we questioned the need to sign for the fact we had alread prepaid. The staff got very upset and a lot of face pulling and huffing and puffing took place. we asked why they appeared upset with us and were told, and I quote, we are not upset, we always smile! My response was, you smile, but not from the heart. One last thing is that the hotel is in a rather run down area.

Dear LizndBob,
Thank you for taking the time to review our Ai Cavalieri Hotel and for sharing your experience with TA members.
We truly value the opinions of all our guests and we are sorry we were not able to meet your expectations. We were very surprised to know that you did not like your room, considering that the Junior Suite you had is one of the most requested by our guests as it is a canal view room with a 25 sq. m private terrace. When you kindly asked the front desk for a room changing because of only bathtub, unfortunately, the only solution was to change the room next day as you informed us only after few hours you went to the room and the hotel that day was fully booked.
Regarding the transfer service, with an assistant waiting and meeting you at arrival gate, porterage service, transfer by private car and then private water taxi to the hotel, was organized only on your request. You confirmed this service after we informed you also about the other less expensive solution: water taxi from the airport pier that is at about 10/15 minute walk, without an assistant, without porterage service and carrying all your bags by yourself to the dock.
Finally I personally would like to say some words of appreciation for our Staff: our team works daily with a professional and friendly attitude to give the best service as all the guests of each hotel deserve. And we do that with a smile!
We hope that this has not put you off a return stay with us again and we would love to have the opportunity to welcoming you back as our guest.
Best regards!

Fabulous and quite simply one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The Hotel Ai Cavalieri is both beautiful and sumptuous and located equally between St Marks Square and the Rialto bridge, the perfect location to enjoy Venice.

What makes the Hotel Ai Cavalieri stand out from almost any other hotel I have stayed at is it charm equaled only by the hotel staff that look after you so brilliantly. We were welcomed with a smile and laughter that lasted our whole trip, given accurate and invaluable advice and directions!!!

I applaud the management that found this fantastic team and run the hotel so well.

I would like to mention some of the guys that made our stay as magnificent and magical as the Venice we visited.

A young man called Antonio greeted us on arrival full of humour and charm and great gastronomic knowledge you would never know it was his first job. A slightly older and not so young man Andrea (only in his mid 30s) who we laughed with every day and shared our daily snaps and experiences of Venice with. It was a highlight of our day to go to the reception. The Hotel Ai Cavalieri has a fabulous breakfast and it converts to a cool Bat Bar later in the day. We met Delightful and yes charming Daniel who we enjoyed chatting to as he made us some superb cocktails and bar snacks. They all together as a team deliver a first class service second to none.

Our room number 312 was such a wonderful luxurious place to come back to and relax it was perfect.

The smiles, laughter and friendship delivered by the staff at the Hotel Ai Cavalieri is unique, distinguishing this hotel from all others in Venice.
If like us your lucky enough to stay at the Hotel Ai Cavalieri then you will have the best stay of your lives in beautiful Venice.

Room tip: All the rooms are beautifully laid out, we stayed in room 312 on the 3rd floor it was a delight.

This hotel is a perfect position and is very well staffed, with lovely luxurious rooms. The hotel made our stay in Venice. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after and the concierge service was outstanding! - a very special thank you to Andrea on reception, his knowledge of the finest restaurants and directions is something to value! The rooms are very clean the hotel is very well maintained. A very good 5 star hotel. There is a very good supermarket just yards from the front door for those little things you may need! I would suggest this is a "must stay hotel", we will be back - oh and Venice in April is stunning!

For years we had stayed at the Gritti Palace in Venice, but this time were hoping for something a bit more intimate, off the beaten path. A place of elegance and comfort; but on a smaller scale,. We found exactly that (not to mention at a fraction of the cost!) in Hotel Ai Cavalieri, an exquisitely renovated palazzo in a perfect location: away from the tourist hordes, yet close to all the city’s highlights and less than a 5 minute walk to two of the city’s best seafood restaurants. With its exquisite carvings, shimmering chandeliers, and intricately painted murals, Ai Cavalieri is like being welcomed into a wealthy Venetian’s home. Our room #208 (a junior suite on the hotel’s second floor) was vast with a spectacularly carved ceiling , two enormous windows and beautiful marble bathroom. Others on Tripadvisor have commented on the Reception Desk’s perfect service (always helpful; never intrusive) as well as the delights of Bar Bat . where Claudio makes every guest feel as if he is their own personal butler. This hotel is not about “being seen” but about quiet elegance in a privileged setting. It was a treat coming back to this glorious haven after a day’s wanderings. Indeed with Ai Cavalieri we feel like we have found a new home in Venice. And what a fabulous home it is.

Room tip: Rooms on second floor have high ceilings
