“Enjoyed our stay here...”
Reviewed 31 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This review may look a bit Leo Tolstoy but do take time to read it as it may be more helpful than you think. You see, many readers will still be undecided and debating 'hotel' or 'apartment' and although you must decide that yourselves I would like to point out some of the pros and cons, (some obvious but maybe some not so). I promise the review will follow!
Firstly the pros of an apartment. Choose the right one and you can take advantage of all the things that make Venice special for food - wonderful fish and other fresh produce can be bought by you, (can be fun and an adventure in itself) and cooked how you like it. You will save a fortune and live like kings..You can fill fridges with cold drinks for all, especially having cold water to hand and eat whenever you like, (you don't have too worry about when breakfast is served or getting back for dinner. Yes, eating places abound in Venice and it's great to use them, but do so for 3 or 4 meals a day, especially with a family then don't forget to remortgage your house first. And..it's not so much of a treat that many times! And oh boy is is lovely having a 'base' to watch a movie in the evening or just chill out with a beer. If you have a washing machine..(I go back to 'choosing the right place) that's so handy. You can take less clothes or/and not worry about getting what you have dirty. There's a bit of a fuss with the rubbish, (certain items need to be put out on certain days) but a good rental company will explain how this works. Now of course, you may be reading the above in horror and thinking that cooking is the last thing you want to do on holiday - and if so, you perhaps need to be looking at hotels, but do keep in mind the points which may make keeping your own house the right thing for you.
As promised the review of this apartment..Okay. Firstly, what do you get starting with the kitchen. There's a washing machine, gas hob, (but not an oven). An 'airer' to dry clothes. All of the cutlery and cooking utensils you will need and a microwave oven. The kitchen is very small and the area to prepare food is virtually all taken up by the microwave oven. Okay for 2 people but only just, (you can use the main table to help). There is an ironing board and iron. The lounge has a modern TV and there are lots of DVD's you can use. A comfortable coach, (which is also a sofabed) and table with four chairs. The view from the lounge is onto a canal, (which you don't always get in a hotel) and there are two windows. The bathroom is more than adequate and the shower a pleasure to use. The bedroom is the only room with aircon. Now, I really did enjoy my stay here, (with my 15 year old son) but he slept on the sofa bed where he sweated like a person with a fur coat on in a sauna. You can get away with just aircon in the sleeping bit if it's just the two of you and you're not using the sofabed. Depending on what time of the year you go of course!! We were there, (not an issue in winter!) in August and believe you me, opening the windows is not an option. You will almost certainly have flying visitors in the form of extremely large gnats with a taste for blood. Now that's not a criticism of the apartment but something to consider. Or face doing battle over who is going to be in the airconditioned room and who will be doing battle with the insects. Cleanliness was fine. Now, location.. I am often asked about the best areas. Well, sometimes you may want to consider the proximity to the main attractions, (Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square) for reason of health, (physical disabilities) but the simple truth is that the only area to avoid is that which is close to the Piazza Roma. And this is because you really are on the outskirts but without the advantages. To explain.. If your in Castello you have the wonderful eateries along the Via Giuseepe Garabaldi and the walk along the Rijva Degli Schiavoni takes you to where it's all happening and the walk back to a less crowded, less expensive part of the city. If your up in Cannaregio the same with the wonderful Strada Nova your way to and from it all..The Piazza Roma. It's the coach station. You could even end up with a view of it, (as opposed to a canal or interesting calle). And, it is a fair old walk too. Don't rule out Santa Croce, (the area it's in) because if your well in and not far from the San polo area you could be fine. Back to the area of this apartment. Fantastic. 8 minutes to the Rialto Bridge, two supermarkets 3 minutes away..a great spot. Lastly, the company who manage this apartment are lovely and very professional. They will meet you on arrival and show you what's what. Yes I would recommend this apartment to anyone but you should consider the above too. Hope this has been helpful!
P.S. There is Wi-Fi and it was very good - never had a problem with it at all.

It was a pleasure reading you. We are sharing the similar point of view about renting an apartment. This gives you real freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you feel like it. And most of all, you really do feel and live like a local.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our apartment. Last summer was very hot indeed ! At least, the air conditioning in the bedroom could help to refresh a little bit the apartment... We thank you for your kind words and hope to see you again very soon in Venice, or elsewhere in Italy.

“Clean apartment overlooking a canal”
Reviewed 20 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

You will need to sign an agreement and return it to the agent before travelling. On arrival, you are greeted in a very professional way by the agent which allows for a smooth entry into the property. The agent was also very friendly and took the time to give ideas for dinning etc.

The apartment is clean and comfortable. Everything you need for short stay, self contained living is available in the apartment (including a small but useable kitchen and a washing machine). However, you will need to make your bed with the sheets provided, and at the end of the stay, remove the sheets and place the rubbish in the street.

The living room overlooks a canal which gondolas travel along. You can also see the neighbours across the canal.

Overall, a very comfortable place in a good location. I would stay here again.
