The Bernardi is in a good location close to the Ca D' Oro vaporetto stop, so getting there from the railway station on Vaporetto number 1 is simple. In addition, we had no difficulty getting to and from the hotel with all of our luggage because it is only a couple of hundred yards away and the route is completely level. The hotel is a bit hard to find tucked away in a side street and my offline Google Map had a hard time pinpointing it. We were fortunate to stumble onto it because I remembered the name of one of the streets from Google Streetmaps. We were somewhat disconcerted to find that our room was right at the top of the building so we had to carry all of our luggage up three flights of stairs to get to it. Not recommended for those not young and/or fit because there is no elevator. The room was small but adequate but a small wardrobe was the only storage space. The bathroom was also small and the shower cubicle even more so. It was hard to soap up your body without one of your elbows colliding with one of the side walls. Not recommended for those with claustrophobia.
The staff were responsive although, for the most part, not particularly friendly.
Breakfast was ok but with a limited selection of items. The early risers get the best croissants.
The hotel was probably about what I expected for the price we paid but I would have rated it as Good rather than Very Good given that option.
Don't stay in room 25 or room 26 unless you want a real workout for your thighs

Room Tip: Room 26 was nice and quiet but quite a climb

Had a great one night stay in this very cute hotel. I recommend booking for the following reasons.
-> I booked one night only a week in advance for two people with a shared bathroom here on TripAdvisor and paid 78€ (including city taxes). What we got was a private bathroom!! And we were very happy about this lucky upgrade which would have cost 120€ otherwise!
-> didn't try the breakfast but the area looked clean and it seemed to have many options! Even without breakfast no worry as there is a supermarket near by and many cafes and bars!
-> rooms were very clean and also the bathroom! Our room was also in the annex which was no problem at all though (just be aware that there are steep steps so if you are not that good with walking it might make sense to ask for a room in the normal building!)
-> I would recommend liking their Facebook page for a free bottle of Prosecco on arrival! Great idea and great gift!
-> towels, shower gel and great speedy wifi were available.
I loved my stay and can't think of any negative aspect! I would definitely return!

(Check in is 1pm and check out by 10.30am)

Stayed 3 nights in August. Less than 10 minutes walk from Vaporetto Ca d o'ro station, no bridge/stairs in-between, good if carrying luggage. Reception was kind, and our room was in another building about 3 minutes away. Room traditionally decorated, as we were four, two single beds were added besides the king, but not crowded. Bathroom small, shower stall only 2x2 feet. No kettle, a small TV, not an issue for us. A/C worked well and was quiet. Could hear the footsteps above, but no noise from next door. Beds were firm, and pillows very very flat (having to use two together). Breakfast was at the reception building, simple, no egg/deli, but enough. Had to wait for a few minutes one day for seating. Area very quiet, a Coop store around corner, easy to get supplies.

Pros:
Friendly & attentive staff
Clean rooms
Italian breakfast included (Americans: this means croissants, fruit juice, cheeses, coffee)
Hotel will hold your luggage for you if you have a late departure at no cost
Great value
Excellent location in close proximity to the city sights

Cons:
Hotel was a little difficult to find. I'd looked up the directions to the property from the nearest Alilaguna (water bus) stop on google maps prior to trip thinking that would suffice. It didn't. Problem is the street names on google maps and the actual street names (when they were even marked) were not the same. In less time than it's taken me to write this review, we were lost. Fortunately, we had pre-purchased a data plan for our phones before leaving the states and were able to use GPS to get us back on track. I wouldn't let this dissuade you, but just be prepared. After all, you are in Venice; you're supposed to get lost.

Overall, great value hotel in a central location. I would stay here again. On a side note, we stayed in the annex.
