“We get further more that we expected”

I arranged with them the transfer service from the Marco Polo Airport to the hotel. The driver was right on time at the customs exit with a sign with my name on it and conducted us to our car which was a Mercedes. After drive us to the Piazzale di Roma, we were transferred to a private water taxi and the ride was fantastic.
When we arrived, our room was not ready so they offer us a free drink while waiting with the promise that the waiting time will be worthy because they had upgrade us to a much better room, and It was true.
The room was beautiful and they welcome us with a bottle of wine and a mascarpone cake in our room.
The breakfast was very good and took place in a gorgeous room.
In summary, everything was exceptionally good.

This really is a five star hotel.
Spent a 'big' anniversary there as we wanted a grand experience and we certainly had that! Having arrived by Orient Express from London we wanted to continue the five star experience.
Arriving by private water taxi right to the front door was an excellent start. The reception staff were very friendly and super efficient.
Our suite was classified as a junior suite but was enormous with its own entrance hall, separate sitting room, huge well stocked marble bathroom (with a shower that didn't scald or freeze you) and very large bedroom adjacent to which was a wide hallway with lots of wardrobe space. A welcome bottle of champage was the perfect ending to a wonderful first day.
The hotel is perfectly located just adjacent to St Marks Square so you are right in the middle of the action with loads of shops in the old Marco quarter just around the corner.
We did not eat at the hotel apart from breakfast so cannot comment on that although the selection of cooked food was very limited and seemed to cater more for continental tastes but that was no problem as just looking at the ornate ceiling was an event in itself!
All in all a really nice hotel that deserves its five star rating.
This was our first trip to Venice and it more than lived up to our expectations and are looking forward to returning
One word of warning though - beware the free boat ride to Murano arranged by the hotel. As soon as you arrive you are grabbed by the glass factory representative who tries to do the hard sell and is very pushy. He was not happy when we didn't buy anything from their showrooms. We did in fact buy two small items for half the factory price from one of the many small glass shops nearby.

Can't fault the place: it really is a five star - the breakfast room of the hotel is the grandest dining room you will eat in with painting on the ceilings of historic interest, and more to the point the breakfast has so much choice it is amazing. The rooms have excellent facilities and the cleanest and best-stocked bathrooms you could ask for. In the afternoon there is a turn-down service whereby a hotel maid sorts the bed out for the evening and places a mat and slippers on each side of the bed as well as a slip of paper with the next day's weather on it! The hotel is right next to San Marco and has a vaporettor stop incredibly close for getting up and down the Grand Canal. If you like shopping in hi-end boutiques then this is the hotel forgot Asia is right next to all the top designer shops. The concierge at the hotel was very helpful indeed.

We started our trip to Venice and we had a great surprise about the hotel. A strategic location, impeccable service and the room extremely clean and well decorated. The breakfast had a greatest variety of food I ever had. In front of the hotel has a service gongola the same price as piers. You can go everywhere by walk, and if you need a boat/taxi, you can take it in front of your hotel door! It's worth!

Some text from the website that is exactly what I got: "Modern amenities are integrated into the vintage splendour, along with personalised services to suit every need and more. The contemporary touches blend perfectly with the handpicked artwork and antiques to create warm, intimate spaces in which you can relax and rediscover yourself"

Room Tip: Don't go to venice during the acqua alta!

This wonderful hotel is one of the oldest in Venice, dating back to the 12th Century. It is steeped in Italian tradition and the general decor is simply stunning.
The location is literally a minute's walk from St Mark's Square so it's perfect if you want to be in the hub of it all.
The staff are courteous, helpful and professional.

One point to consider is that for the amount of mony spent, you could expect a larger room. The deluxe was a little disappointing in size, but overal, the typical venetian style and the small balcony overlooking the small canal below were charming. Ask for a high room floor to get the best possible view. We were on the 3rd floor and our view of the Grand Canal was restricted.
In terms of comfort and cleanliness, the double bed was two beds joined together (as with many European hotels) and there was a morning maid service as well as turn down service in the evening.

The hotel also has its own private landing strip for the water taxis so arriving in one of these and straight into the hotel is a fabulous and glamourous experience. Enjoy it!

Incidently, the hotel also offers a courtesy water taxi to a glass making factory in Murano. If you have an appreciation for fine Murano glass and intend purchasing, then this place is worth going to. We don't and the pushy guide who took us around the showroom was very disgruntled that we didn't buy anything!

The breakfast room in the hotel is magnificent - the ceiling frescos were created by students under Tiepolo's tutelage and it was a real pleasure to start the day off in these breathtaking surroundings. The quality and choice of the buffet breakfast was excellent.

For those who would be interested in WiFi, there is no free access. An hourly charge is applied.

Venice itself is a beautiful city. The best way to appreciate it is by foot. Apart from the obvious attractions like the Basilica, Doges Palace, Bell Tower, Rialto Bridge, Academy Bridge, it is just lovely to walk the small winding streets and discover a little church or browse past the quaint shops. Or just sit in a street cafe with a gelato and watch a gondola pass by.
A gondola experience is a must - it is approx EUR 80 for approx 30 minutes and you can pick them up all around the city.
We also enjoyed afternoon tea at Florian, which is an early 18th Century tea room, with an Orchestra that plays outside to add to the ambience. It is not cheap (a cup of tea with cost EUR 10) but this is the premium you pay around St Mark's and for us, it was worth doing.
Meal times - we adore Italian food so dining for us was no problem. We picked places at random and were not disappointed. If however your palate craves something else, there is a Hard Rock Cafe just off St Mark's Sq.

A superb stay in a superb hotel in a superb city.
