This is certainly a 'grand' hotel in the old style with an imposing reception area, large bar and cavernous dining room. However, we had a great stay. Our room was exceedingly comfortable with a fabulous view over the gardens towards Mont Blanc, the bar was lively, if a little too busy on the Saturday night, and the super heated outdoor pool was such a treat in a snowfall. We had taken the half board option and the food in the slightly old fashioned hotel dining room was superb both at dinner and breakfast. However, what really made this holiday was the staff. They all knew our names from the moment we arrived and were constantly but discreetly attentive at all times. They were unfailingly friendly without being intrusive and I can honestly say, it was the best hotel service I have had in a long time. My only, very slight, criticism is that in the mountains, I would like a cosy residents' lounge or bar with a fire. The Grand's bar is very big and has a lot of passing trade so we had to reserve seats for our pre-dinner drinks even as residents. It made it a fun area but not terribly relaxing.
The shuttle bus system to the ski lifts was very efficient and made for an easy skiing break.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.More
