We rocked up on our first night and they couldn't accommodate us for dinner so we made a reservation for the next night an had an amazing meal accompanied by local wines that were recommended to us. The food and service were top notch, and we'll remember and try and re-create those dishes for a long time.

We arrived in Merano and called the restaurant a few hours in advance to book, which wasn't a problem.
The owner welcomed us with a very professional and warm attitude and made us feel right at home. The dishes are of very good quality, the ingredients are fresh and prepared with care. The menu is limited which is a good thing as it vouches for the fact that they wish to work with good and fresh ingredients. The accompanying wines are of excellent quality and the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming.

If you are looking for honest, high quality dishes and a great atmosphere, this is the place to be. Thanks to the owner and staff for a splendid evening!

Tales about this place are renown but basically the menu is limited for a place challenging for a M-star.
Could be much better given the existing basics but it depends who is serving.
Went there there more than once and the feelings were different.
Kitchen is fine but service not always "feeling at home"

We were in Merano, shopping, etc. and decided to go find lunch. It was getting late (2:00ish) and I knew many of the restaurants would stop their lunch service soon. We came upon this place -- it looked nice and was still open, so we popped in. We hadn't done any research on restaurants, but sure lucked out with this one. We were in Austria and South Tyrol for 2 weeks and I think this was easily our best meal -- and most expensive -- but worth it. Great service and our waitress spoke perfect English. I think what made our meal expensive is the wine we had. We asked her to recommend something and she didn't disappoint -- it was fabulous. I had the Burata/tomato salad -- creamy and full of flavors. Then we split the tomato risotto and the potato and leek raviolis. Both amazingly good -- we had what I call a food "O" -- we were moaning and humming through every bite! Their outside courtyard was very quaint, quiet and peaceful. There are lots of restaurants along the Laubengassee -- and they are crowded, noisy, etc. This one was a great find. Seek it out next time you are in Merano.
