I was there with my girlfriend in August, to escape from the suffocating heat of the valley. We were, at first, a bit confused on our way to the hotel, but once you recognize it, it's difficult to miss it.
Once inside, the manager greeted us, gave us few explanations on the policies of the hotel and told us we were selected for a free upgrade (!).
The room was bright and spacious, with turn-of-the-century renovated furniture. We found a "spa pack" comprising a beautiful bag with terrific robes and towels.
Concerning the spa, we used the vapor bath and the sauna, and we loved the infinity pool (albeit it's a bit "less infinity" than it looks like from the website, because of a concrete wall... but still quite stunning!).

Dinner was hearty and more than fine, the staff was attentive and caring.

Bottomline: we felt pampered for the whole stay, and we will probably return

We booked a room for a three night stay in September and had a wonderful stay. We found the staff and owners very helpful and accommodating and always willing to assist in any way possible.

The room was comfortable with a small balcony that afforded us a view of the valley. There were also all the little things available , such as a knapsack for hiking, extra blankets for sitting outside, umbrellas, etc.

Breakfast was always enjoyable with plenty of variety. We did have the half board, which I strongly suggest. The meals nightly were always quite good and filled with variety. We never had a disappointment and found the food surpassing our expectations every meal.

If you want to stay out of the city and be near hiking, or just relax away from the city, this is a great place to stay. It was the highlight of the trip for us.

Have to agree with other reviewers that management was less than welcoming and friendly, which soured our experience.

Location is nice and quiet. But I would recommend to anybody looking to vacation in this area that they stay on the way more beautiful opposite side of the valley in Oberbozen where there is a lot more to see and do. Food was decent but did not match the high expectations we had from the website. Rooms were clean but are ready for updating.

The location and the view from this small hotel could not be better. The rooms on the top floor are specious and open up to a lovely balcony overlooking Bolzano and the surrounding hills. Very peaceful and picturesque.
We have stayed for a week and were given the Bolzano card that provided unlimited museum entries and free travel on the cable car (very useful as the trip up the mountain by car takes 15 min via very narrow road).
The food was delicious and the only suggestion would be that different/alternative menu is offered (for both breakfast and dinner).
The waitstaff and housekeeping were very warm and accommodating while the owners seemed a bit pompous on occasion.
Beautiful place, highly recommended.

Lovely place for our short break. Nice food and staff. Good for walks in the forested mountain and easy access via cable car to Bolzano. Nice terrace and pool deck with hot tub. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Dear Andy R.,

thank you so much for your short visitation in our lovely Gasthof.
There are many ways for walking directly from us to the near forested mountain.
But also you can go down to bolzano, with the cable car, the first in the world.

Looking forward to your next stay and wishing you all the best.

Kind regards

Family Josef Schrott and all staff
