Al mercato is located in the newly rejuvenated canal area of Milan, which is filled with really great bars and restaurants (especially Mag). Al mercato also had a burger joint and a noodle bar.

We knew the staff here who are incredibly friendly, and had a really great meal as a result. The quesadilla was incredibly cheesy (which is to my taste), while the chicken and pork tacos were tasty. They offer you many different cuts of pork which I think shows a commitment to serving good food.
The prawn taco wasn't so great.. But we were so full after the enormous quesadilla it didn't matter much.

Just a chilled atmosphere and relaxed vibe. Nothing fancy.

The Taco Bar is just another example of "ethnic" food cooked by Italians who build menus and cook based just on photos they have seen. No-one who has actually eaten Mexican food could enjoy this flaccid and sad take on that cuisine.
Creme fraiche?! Sure, the sour cream the chef has seen in the photos of Mexican food looks a lot like creme fraiche. Tastes a bit different though! Probably it looks like chucking any old random vegetables to the tacos - scraps of tinned green beans, old bits of dried up radish - is how it works. When everything is tasteless it doesn't work, really. Guacamole without any hint of chilli? Nacos made with plastic, tasteless, fake cheese?
The service was friendly, if slow, but there is a definite depressing feeling in that restaurant… Paying so much (€30 a head) to eat such indifferent and dull food, it truly is depressing.
