Owner description: This fine museum houses an exquisite collection of art, furnishings and historic arms, including Antonio Pollaiuolo's "Portrait of a Lady," which has become an icon for Milan's own style and elegance.

There is something particularly attractive in museums such as this which contain the personal collection of an individual or a family. This is fascinating, having all sorts of treasures in art as well as lace, glass, ceramics and ivories as well as jewels. Not to be missed, especially if you are in Milan ion a Monday when almost all other galleries are closed..

Often overlooked, the collection is fantastic and the building of great interest. Also, during the several visits we have made, there has never been much of a crowd and so you can see everything virtually uninterrupted.

This small, private museum well deserves its good TA ratings. It is housed in a former private mansion. For that reason, even many of the floors, ceilings, staircases, patios, etc are worth seeing. There is an excellent small collection of Renaissance through early 18th century paintings, porcelains, watches, stained glass, statues, and weapons and armor. There is also a very good audio guide (for a fee) of the more notable works.

It is certainly well worth an hour or two of your time. My wife, adult sons, and I all enjoyed it.

This museum holds many different collections from art work to armor. I was taken by the collection of time pieces and navigational pieces that were made out of ivory/bone. The small chapel with painted ceiling and stained glass is beautiful. There is something for everyone here and worth the time to visit.

Museo Poldi Pezzoli is a wonderful private museum in a large mansion. There is a nice collection of medieval armor and a small collection of excellent Italian paintings. If you are in Milan on Monday, you can buy a bargain ticket to visit this museum and the nearby La Scala museum.
