Description: The building that houses the Trattoria La Colonna is adjacent to the church of S. Maria alla Porta, in the homonymous street. The start dates back to 1922 as "dairy with food service", in a context that bears the scars of the bombings of World War II (whose traces are still visible in the same religious complex). The restaurant becomes exclusive in the 60s, when the space is transformed into a classic Trattoria surrounded by neighborhood shops, from butcher to tripe. The environment has maintained to this day the atmosphere of a typical Milanese Trattoria and consists of two small rooms, a basement and a ground floor. This last feature - hence the name of - a large granite column at the center visible and another column that comes out in part by a wall with the shop contigua.Le gastronomic refer to tradition with a touch creativity; among the classic platter of cold cuts and fried dumplings and the risotto alla Milanese. Coming there with friends for lunch was a good idea. A friendly wellcome and flexible kitchen allowed us to share different dishes among us five... reasonable quality...
Disappointing: the smallest portion of Limoncello which I ever saw was charged at 3,50 Euro

I was on holiday break in Milan and I was searching for a place where to try a good Milanese cuisine. Good luck and I'm having my dinner at the " Trattoria La Colonna". Superb Risotto alla Milanese, enormous and tasty Cottoletta alla Milanese. Polite and helpful staff. Totally satisfied. Highly recommended.

I didn't know it was possible to find terrible food in Italy but I was mistaken. This restaurant it's simply the worst I have ever been to. I have ordered a simple beef filet with mushrooms and there was so much yellow cream on top you could hardly taste the meat. The filet was super hard as well. I have sent back the meat and they even charged me for it. Really horrible food and unprofessional management.

La Colonna has changed hands. And, the new crew knows NOTHING about client servicing or politeness.
Dino and Gianni, of the old team, sold and left. I hope the chef is good, as, food and decor will be La Colonna's only saving grace now.
We called for a table for two as we wanted to go back there for dinner, and to say hello to old friends. The interaction on the phone was rude; and, yes, they informed us that Dino sold his restaurant, but then, they hung up on us. Now, this is the second time this has happened. A few weeks ago I was passing by after lunch hour, and stopped to say hello (I did not know the restaurant had been sold), and a VERY rude waiter literally shooed me away! I barely managed to wave hello to the kitchen staff (that, fortunately, seems to have remained the same).
Italy is the capital of good food, and Italians are known for their hospitality, but, if the staff at La Colonna continues to behave like this, they will not be able to secure their clients' loyalty. The lunchtime crowd will still come --office-goers of the area flock to this restaurant-- but the neighbourhood families will not eat at such an unfriendly place.

Cordiali saluti
