The staff at Hotel Florence made our stay truly memorable. They couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. They couldn't have done more for us and really made our weekend very special.

The hotel itself is a traditional style property with wonderful views of the lake in a great location a few minutes from the ferry and in the centre of Bellagio. Its spotlessly clean but has a few quirks that go along with a historic building but it's a delightful place to stay whist visiting Como.

The breakfast buffet was very good and the bar was charming.

Would highly recommend Hotel Florence to anyone.

I take on board what others say about the lack of a stand up shower. It's certainly unusual not to have one these days but remember, you are on holiday. We found it quite enjoyable to take the time to take a bath each day. Why rush?

It is a great location but the room we stayed in needed updating. Hand held shower made for a mess - bathroom very small with pedestal sink which limited space to put amenities on. Hairdryer on wall had hole in the tubing - they did provide me with a small replacement dryer which was much better and should replace the wall units. Breakfast was average - the only hotel out of 4 we stayed in that dumped fruit cocktail in a bowl instead of offering fresh fruit. Croissants were good along with option of making soft boiled eggs. Christopher at front desk was very helpful and explained the boat/ferry schedules to us which was very helpful since the employees at the docks were rude and unhelpful. They indicated they would be doing some remodeling so perhaps the rooms we were in will be next on the list.

Room tip: Make sure to request a room with a real shower

The location is perfectly situated at the waterfront, but the hotel is very dated. I expected a charming old hotel, but it was a little too dated for that. My main issue was the lack of a shower. Technically there was a handheld nozzle attached to the tub, but it wasn’t very functional and there was virtually no water pressure. The staff was hit or miss. A man (assuming he was the manager) was very helpful and wanted to ensure my stay was going well, but most of the time I was dealing with the rest of the staff that seemed very uninterested in helping me.

The outside restaurant of the Hotel Florence is in a beautiful lakeside setting under a wisteria pergola, at the quieter edge of the shore. We chose to eat here primarily for the location on the first occasion but were so impressed by the food and service that we returned to try more of the menu. The food is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, especially the scallops starter and pumpkin lasagne, and meals at this restaurant were easily the best we ate in Bellagio. The waiters were welcoming and very professional.

When we opened the door to our top story room, the bold bright colors brought a smile to our faces. Then we realized we have a front and side balcony facing the lake. Pure heaven! We were entranced by the views, and by watching the many boats do their dance between the lake Como towns. What beauty!
The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had been in some less friendly, smaller Italian towns where English was a challenge. Not here!
Maybe a little bit of street noise here and there but not bad and well worth it!
Breakfast was very nice and plenty varied.
From admittedly tough American expectations our ideal would have had a small refrigerator but they were happy to provide us with a nice classy metal ice bucket from the bar where we kept some water, beer , and cheese chilled.
Our bath was a hand held shower head and tub with no shower curtain so a bit challenging but not critical.
Walk across the not at all busy street, buy your boat ticket and keep exploring ..

Highly recommended!
