This is a lovely friendly and authentic restaurant. Male host made us very welcome and although the menu in Italian (and we couldn’t read it) he took time to explain the dishes. Lovely experience but would have selected different dishes if had been in English. (Not the restaurant fault)
All in all a gem of a restaurant-thank you to all.

We started with very tasty marinated Gamberoni and a smoked Swordfish carpaccio. The next station was as delightful as the first, Fish Sushi with raw julienne vegetables and a lemon sauce. A beautifully presented platter of grilled tender calamari with fresh raw vegetables of the season. The dessert was a recommendation of the restaurant, pistachio icecream and Sicilian biscuit rolls filled with cream, candied fruits and covered with small pieces of pistachio, a Sicilian speciality. Friendly waiters explain the dishes with patience and a smile.

We went to Rapala for the second time, this time in August. Seating capacity had expanded since our first visit, with a redesigned courtyard section (see our uploaded photo). Food was even better than at our first visit! This time we had the swordfish carpaccio (photo) and the Ligurian seafood stew (photo) while Rapala's genial host, Alessandro, recommended a white Ligurian dry white to accompany dinner. The town of Rapallo itself was full to the brim with tourists at this peak week of August, and with the added seating the restaurant that night was fully booked. As some reviewers pointed out below, service can be slow at Rapala, but we feel that is due to the sheer numbers of people who have become fans of this place, and more importantly because the same father-and-son team is doing the cooking back at the kitchen. That is why the quality remains high and the wait is an inevitable side effect of keeping the family philosophy. Patience will pay off, with very fresh fish and seafood and the friendliness of the front of the house team at this restaurant. We will certainly return at our next trip to Rapallo, and if we brought friends as well we would not hesitate to bring them to this restaurant.

First of all they are very smiley and kind. Service is perfect. Food was delicious, my wife had a dessert with mango cream yogurt with strawberries on top and she really like it. I had a pasta with tomato sauce. Place is a bit pricey min wine bottle is 30-35 euro. Very small menu, mostly seafood.

As mentioned earlier in another review the male host is more professional (read: customer aware) than the other staff. It started all well but when the time moved on the experience went down. You have to love fish here, of course. But the very expensive yellow-tuna sashimi is not the best option on the menu, overpriced, and no taste at all. All sweet and neutral. That’s a pity.
After a while we left, not good enough.
