We chose to stay in La Spezia as a base for Cinque Terre It's a large harbour town so there are very few tourists compared to the bustle of the five villages and it's very convenient to commute to the villages from the main train station plus it is walking distance to the harbour for the ferry boats to Portovenere. The hotel is in a good location in the heart of the main shopping streets. The room was a good size, comfortable beds and modern décor. Breakfast was included and the buffet had plenty of choice, although the breakfast room was a little bit clinical and could be decorated better. The staff at the hotel were excellent and very helpful and spoke excellent English. All in all, we found the CDH to be great value, good location, and very comfortable.More
