We spent 2 nights at Hotel Corona d'Ora, after seeing it on Rick Stein. Admittedly we had the cheapest room, but at AUD$200+ I was expecting it to be amazing, and comparing it to other accommodation throughout our trip, it is easily forgotten (except for the price!).
I enjoyed the music that played in the room, that was really nice. The bathroom was very big and a great shower. The towels were disappointing though, for a fancy hotel they were so thin, small and felt very old, and didn't do a great job at drying.
Our room was small and a little crowded, compared to what we'd stayed in previously, but it wasn't an uncomfortable stay at all.
The location was handy to all of the main sights of Bologna. The staff were friendly and wanting to help but honestly they weren't that helpful, we asked about the market and didn't get accurate information, and we asked if they could call a restaurant to make a booking, we never heard back until later that night when she spotted us walking in (after we went to the restaurant) and she told us it was booked out...I then found a voicemail on my mobile when I put my Australian sim card back in when I got home. I'm not sure why they wouldn't call the room? But they were very friendly and definitely trying to be helpful.
Breakfast was amazing though! Such a big choice of different food and drink, and a lovely barista to make personal coffee for you. We also had a really nice chat with him (sorry I don't remember his name).
I am happy we stayed here, but I think I'd look for a more affordable option for us next time, this was a "treat" and I feel a bit disappointed that it didn't meet my expectations. I would recommend to friends but with the warning that it is a bit more expensive.
