Alessandro is an amazing tour guide. He is knowledgeable, energetic and funny. We saw making of Parmigiana Reggiano cheese, Balsamic vinegar and prosciutto ... and ate an awesome lunch at a restaurant with a lovely view of the Emilia-Romagna region. Totally worth the 7am meeting time!

I found this day tour by accident; on TripAdvisor it showed up near our hotel for some reason. It was bloody well worth it. Early morning pick up right outside our hotel, no other thought or effort required. Perfect for a day's break from navigating, negotiating and making decisions.

We learned how they manufacture Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P. before tasting some, walked through a prosciutto factory and a balsamic vinegar de Modena place, all with tastings. Then there was lunch that never ended.

The tour guide really makes the tour, as others' reviewed.

A definite recommendation and good value.

Meeting Alessandro Martini for the first time at 7.30 in the morning is like having a double espresso, twice in one go. He is as animated and bright as his jacket (in the photos). Only one other guest, an American lady by the name of Nancy (I think) nearly out-talked him on the trip. Alessandro runs the top-rated to-do activity in Bologna, the food capital of the italian world. This is why Tripadvisor is fast becoming the authoritative place for trustworthy travel reviews - http://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Attraction_Review-g187801-d1462652-Reviews-Italian_Days_Food_Experience-Bologna_Province_of_Bologna_Emilia_Romagna.htmlAlessandro not only runs the best tour in town, but is extremely passionate about good, healthy food and traditional ways of preparing food. He wlll fool you into thinking the lunch he arranged is but a snack on a hilltop trattoria - it's not. Practically a buffet though not all all prepared like one. 8 thumbs up (me and the girls) and a very loud burp from me!On this tour, you will learn what D.O.P means - once you do, you'll know that, as one reviewer on Tripadvisor said, '“If you travel to Bologna/Modena and you skip this you are a dope - And I don't mean DOP!”.Along with Alessandro, his lovely wife Barbara Wiessner was 100% D.O.P. - extremely helpful and gave us many great tips for the rest of the holiday. She operates on "German minutes" , according to Alessandro, which means she's uber efficient (unlike him, i take it, haha). We only wished we could have met their little daughter Emma Isabel whom Alessandro talks about alot.

What a great day out! Eleonara, the guide was simply delightful and very informative. I learned so much about Italian food and it's production. The 'light lunch' at the end of the day was sensational. I highly recommend doing this tour.

We were unsure whether to book this tour as it was quite expensive and we only had a few days in Bologna. But we are so glad we did and it was worth every penny!
Eleanora and Alexandra were fantastic guides, so enthusiastic and informative- right from the early start, to the birth of their 'bambino' parmigiana cheeses, through the tour of The balsamic vinegar house, and The prosciutto ham factory. Then lunch! We thought they were never going to stop feeding us, and the wine flowed all day!
Thanks guys for looking after us a well and giving us an amazing and highly memorable day out.
