Owner description: The Museum in the beautiful setting of Villa Borghese in Rome preserves sculptures, reliefs and ancient mosaics, and paintings and sculptures from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century. The collection, made up initially by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in the early seventeenth century, preserves masterpieces of Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini, Raffaello, Tiziano, Correggio, Caravaggio and beautiful sculptures of Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Canova.

If going to the Galleria Borghese, defintely go with a guide. There's so much to see and your time is limited to 2 hours, and a guide is able to pick out the most interesting pieces in each room. We had an excellent one from City Wonders (Angela). Paintings by Caravaggio and Titian, sculptures by Bernini, the list goes on and on. Afterwards the surrounding parkland, which is free to enter of course, provides a very pleasant area to stroll in.
High security, you'll need to leave most of your belongings when you go in so take the minimum. The toilets are grossly inadequate for the number of visitors, the tours normally give a 10-minute break but be prepared to queue, even for the men.

Galleria Borghese is a must see however it may be difficult to get in. Tickets must be reserved online and spaces sell out quickly.

Fantastic collection of Bernini statues and Carravagio. Booking is essential and can be done online. Allow two hours, although you only get half an hour in the picture gallery.

We went there with pre-booked ticket on free Sunday for time slot 5-7pm. We were permitted to get on the queue. I've seen some people went there without pre-booked ticket (on free Sunday) and were told to go away.
The art works, ceilings and walls are just magnificent

You will want to book your tickets in advance. Should you be required to check in 30 minutes earlier, make sure to hang out in their café and grab an espresso. There is a lot to see in take in- in this gem of a gallery. The Borghese Gardens are lovely and are a nice break from the busy-ness of Rome.
