I spent 5 nights at this hotel during my recent trip to Rome. I chose this place given its proximity to Termini station and major attractions (notably the start line of the Rome marathon), as well as the good value. Located on Via Principe Amadeo, there are a number of hotels in this area and is easy to miss if you are not actively looking for the discrete doorway. The reception was very welcoming as I was given my card key (top floor room 534) and advised on the timing for breakfast. I was struck by the old fashioned elevator where you had to open and close metal gates. Given I had my luggage I took it up to the 5th floor, but most times during my stay I took the stairs. My room was fairly small, but had two beds, desk, fridge, safe, and a sizeable bathroom complete with shower and bath. The bedding was comfortable and I slept well enough. The breakfast included in your rate was a basic continental, but I was content with the choice of bread, yogurts, pastries, meat and cheese - definitely beyond what North America offers as continental.
The location is ideal to get to Termini station and the Forum, Villa Borghese and Colosseum are all walking distance. It is definitely not an upscale quarter, but as a lone women travelling, I felt safe to walk on my own, and often did so in the evenings during my stay. There was sometimes noise late at night by rousing partygoers but I found this not to be an overwhelming issue after the first evening.
The only real complaint was the Wifi. It worked in my room the first night, but then was problematic throughout the remainder of my stay. Query to the staff revealed that they were having problems with it, so they offered the staff password for their own Wi-Fi connection but it was only available in the lounge by the reception on the ground floor.
Given the extensive choice of other hotels in the area, it is not a stand-out but an overall positive experience and good value.
