“Superb, but with a word of caution”
Reviewed 4 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were very pleased with the apartment and recommend it highly, with one word of caution.

This charming small apartment consists of two rooms — a bedroom, and a living room which includes a small kitchen, and in addition a large bathroom. Every thing seems brand new, everything works just as it ought to. When we were there it was so clean you could think you were the first person in the apartment.
The large double bed is very comfortable, and comes with real down blanket and pillows. There is plenty of closet space. The living room has a three-seat couch in perfect shape, that can double as a sleeper, a couple of comfortable straight chairs, and a small desk on which sits the wi-fi router. As can be seen in the picture, on the half wall separating the kitchen from the rest of the living room, on the side facing the room, are three panels, which snap up to form a dining area. The kitchen includes sink, dishwasher, microwave, an under-counter refrigerator substantially larger than the "minibars" one gets in hotel rooms, a washing machine (but not a dryer; there is a foldaway drying rack in one of the closets), electric kettle and coffeemaker, and more generous counter space than I expected.
The apartment is provided with everything you might need — from cleaning tools and laundry detergent to sewing kit and umbrellas, and even several disposable ponchos, the kind you stick in your pocket when you don't know if it will rain. Surprisingly, no land-line telephone, so be sure to bring your cellphones.
The apartment is on the ground floor, so no staircases to negotiate. Large windows overlook a small plaza formed at the southern corner of via della Grotta Pinta and via di Chiavari. Though not breathtaking, the view is pleasant. The windows let in much light and air, and, when open, also street noises. When the widows are closed no outside noise comes in at all. There are decorative bars outside the windows for security, and these are masked by greenery planted outside the windows, making for a charming aspect.
The location is great. Walking distance to most of what a visitor would want to visit. And for what is outside your walking distance, at the Largo Argentina, not a five minute walk away, is a major cab stand. A two minute walk in one direction brings you to the Campo di Fiori, the picturesque open market. Two minutes in the opposite direction is a more convenient, if less picturesque supermarket, much larger than you would suspect from the street.
Lucia is very helpful, personable, and considerate of special needs. A pleasure to deal with.
I would be remiss if I did not mention one thing that requires caution. Just inside the entrance to the apartment is a small step. We tripped on it several times. There seem to me to be a couple of simple things to do to correct the matter, and Lucia said she would attend to it. Once that is done our recommendation would be unrestrainedly enthusiastic.

For the dati traveler: The apartment is a five- to ten-minute walk from the Old Ghetto, with its synagogues, kosher restaurants and eateries, and food shops. None of the restaurants operate on shabbat, nor are there communal eating arrangements. The Piazza Bologna area is different in this respect, but far from the center.
Two conventional keys, one for the apartment itself, the other for the outside door of the building. The latter is flush on the street. While you are spared the issue of electronic keys, you do have the problem of carrying keys. Stowing somewhere is out of the question; key-belt seems the way to go.
Several lamps are plugged into sockets, so bringing a shabbat-clock is an option. Hot water is provided by a gas heater that starts as soon as a hot-water faucet is opened. Be alert.

“Our time here was just wonderful!!”
Reviewed 27 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Lucia, our perfect hostess, arranged our transportation to and from the airport and made other arrangements as we needed them. The apartment was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The dishwasher and washing machine were greatly appreciated and used often during our 10 day visit. The historic center location made it walkable to all the sights from small baroque churches to major monuments. In short, it was a top notch experience.
