After visiting the Vatican City, just a few more hundred meters you will find Castel San'Angelo. This is the cite of one of the film of Dan Brown. A remarcable site. While waking over the bridge, please pay special attention on all the Angels and what are they holding in the respective hands! If you turn right after the bridge, you will see a local market for some souvenirs.

My husband and I enjoyed Castel Sant’Angelo and the area that surrounds it. The view is unbeatable and it is a must visit for photographers. You can get some great shots of St. Peter’s, the Tiber, and Rome in general.

We visited at Easter and very much appreciated the fact that there was no queue at all to get into Castel Sant Angelo, compared to the hordes outside the Colosseum and St Peter’s. Once inside, it was fascinating to learn about all the different layers and uses of the building over its history whilst wandering around inside it. After a bit of a climb, you come out on the top of the central keep for amazing views across Rome and back towards the Vatican in particular. You exit down a dramatic walkway that once saw Hadrian’s funeral procession before being filled in for security and finally excavated for us! Definitely worth a visit - we enjoyed it immensely.

Not much to see inside,or outside, but it is on the way to the Vatican. Would not recommend it. Just go on to the Vatican

When in Rome this is definitely worth a visit. It cost around €14 euros for adults and €7 for EU citizens up to the age of 25. When I went around mid day the queue wasn’t really that long, had to wait around 10-15 minutes to get in.
It’s such an amazing site and it’s situated on the Tibet river. There are so many historical things to see when in there and you could easily spend more than 2 hours exploring within. If you go all the way to the top as well you could take some amazing pictures of the surrounding areas and you could also get a picture of St. Peter’s Square in the background. Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Rome.
