After seeing pictures of the Trevi Fountain my entire life, I had always thought it was small (like the size of bird bath....not sure why!!!!), but was greatly surprised with the size of the fountain and sculpture!
Going through the tiny Rome laneways with little shops and eateries, you would never expect to come across the tiny piazza that is home to the Trevi Fountain. We went at night, so literally went from little dark streets to then an area well lit up with hundreds of people everywhere!
On any warm summer night you will be find people sitting around the fountain, taking photos, meeting friends, or shopping or eating at the places within in the piazza. It is hard to actually find any spare space to take your own photos or even sit around when it is peak season.
Managed to throw a coin in and make a wish as well as being able to squeeze in a quick photo which I love looking at.
There are plenty of touts willing to take your photo for money....they were annoying and intrusive and I wish the City of Rome would do something about it.
A must have is a gelato from the Gelato shop right next to it. Fantastic flavours, always busy...and nothing like looking at the fountain licking delicious Italian gelato!
This is one of those must see's you should do in life if you get the chance to. Considering it was made in around 19 BC which in itself is astonishing, its upkeep is fantastic.
