The location is perfect. Samir was very helpful. The rooms were small but clean. Good value for the money.

An excellent location, just around the corner from one of the busiest nightspots in Rome, yet it is quiet and secluded. This place was a real find. Very comfortable, clean room, great shower and very helpful host who arranged collection from airport and recommended an excellent resteraunt. I was very happy with my stay and have already recommended this property to friends intending on travelling to Rome.

The Bollo apartments are a real find in terms of budget accommodation in the heart of Rome & I would recommend them wholeheartedly. Just a stone's throw from the Campo de Fiori it is easy to walk to numerous famous sights in the city. However, Campo de Fiori is a real favourite of ours with the fruit & flower, produce & souvenirs during the day & lively bars/ restaurants at night. The bakery 'Il Forno' in the corner (behind the flower stalls) produces the best pizza slices I have ever tasted the (one with zucchini I thought was particularly superb).

We had a double room (6A) on the top floor- up several flights of stairs, but there is a small lift so you don't have to struggle up with your luggage. We shared a small kitchen with two other rooms. Minimal cooking facilities, but the room itself was clean & comfortable with small bathroom & good shower. Only basic sachets of shampoo/body wash, but handy heated towel rail.

Our room had lovely high ceilings & tall windows overlooking the front of the apartments onto the narrow cobbled street below. The flooring was wood as was the ceiling, with large old wooded beams, which gave the room real character.

There was A/C (which we did not use) & small wall mounted flat screen TV- no english channels that we could find.

The room was cleaned every other day with fresh towels. The bed was on the firm side & I would have liked more (& better quality) pillows as they seemed rather thin foam affairs.

We booked with the hotel direct and got a very good rate for paying cash. This did not include the city tax which is 2 Euro per person per night extra. We were also promised a free bottle of wine/olive oil when we booked, but this did not materialise, but we did not raise as were so happy with everything else.

The apartments are not staffed 24/7 & we were very appreciative that the young man stayed on to check us in as our flight had been delayed leaving London & then our luggage took ages to appear at Fiumicino airport. Security seems good: as well as the front door, there is an internal gate (locked when no staff on the premises), a locked door to the 3 apartments (6A-C) and a lock to each room. There was a small in wall safe- just big enough to hold passports /money, but not big enough for laptops etc. Lots of keys!

We paid an extra 10 euro for wifi internet access for 6 days, but I struggled to get a good connection and on one day could not get access at all & had to be supplied with another password. This, along with the pillows were the reason I did not award 5 stars.

We took the Terravision bus from Fiumicino airport (8 euros per person return) into Rome. The bus drops you at the train termini & took approx. 50 mins. Then we took the bus (64 or 40) from in front of the termini to the Campo de Fiori stop- @ 20minutes ride & bought 1 euro tickets from the machines outside of the termini - these last for 75 minutes. From the bus stop it was approx 5-10 minute walk to the apartments.

I found the 'Citymap' app on my iphone to be extremely useful when exploring on foot around Rome. You download city maps before your trip & then use the GPS feature when you are out to ensure you don't get lost. You can also load locations on the map before you travel to avoid high roaming charges.

We are looking forward to our next trip to Rome & staying again at the Bollo Apartments.

We spent 5 days in Bollo Apartments in the begining of February and it was very pleasant stay. The room was nice and cosy with large bed and wardrobe, small table with two chairs... just enough space for two friends or young couple who want to see the center of the city and do not expect caviar and champagne every evening... There was fully equipped kitchen in our room; only the kettle was missing - maybe no problem when you come to visit Rome under normal weather condition and not during snow calamity... The shower was quite small but clean and there were clean towels every two days... Our room was in the first floor and there was only one window, so it was fact that the room was a little bit dark during the day. The location is absolutely excellent. You could see whole center of Rome without using any mean of public transport... Staff was very helpful and friendly. So we could only recommend to stay here.
