Went here with family and the lady (whose name I can't recall) served us though she couldn't speak English and we didn't know to speak Italian. We somehow managed to understand each other as we asked for her recommendation and she let us try a bit of all their food. She was very friendly and patient with us. The food, their bread, especially the wine biscuits, were delicious.

I'd been very lucky discovering this place full of good food and kindness.
Everything is delicious, especially bread and sweets.
My advice is to take a try!

I found Paneria while walking on Via Appia, a main shopping street in the centre of Rome. Normally you wouldn't trust much eating spots on main streets as they are mostly chains (mainly fast food), with nothing very original to offer. This time I was pleasantly surprised of finding the complete opposite. Paneria is a bakery, very sober in it's design but the products are very well displayed. The staff is very welcoming and always very nice, even though they are quite busy (it was every time I went there). The first time I went I had a couple of "rose di pizza" (pizza roses), something they are well known for but I had never seen before (it is probably their signature dish), very very tasty, I did not let them heat it up for me and it was still very good, perfect consistency. Then I went for some cannelloni (yes, they do some pasta as well) and I honestly never tasted cannelloni that good! They told me they are 100% homemade, in the sense that they make the pasta, the sauce, everything handmade by them, beautiful! My friend had a "tris" of spelt salad, rice salad and something else I don't remember and he was amazed too. I decided to take a few biscuits (they have many kinds, all of them dried crunchy biscuits) for dessert and I did the right thing, they are literally little drops of heaven! I love this kind of biscuits and this was paradise for me! I took some bread with me, they make a bread typical of the area they are from: the Roman Castles (I think the place is called Lariano). By far one of the best bread I tasted in my entire life! Very light and easy to digest, it lasted for a few days and kept it's quality until the end. The prices are also very very reasonable, especially considering the area and the quality of food. They put them in restaurant category which is wrong, they are a little bakery where they also do great food but don't expect seats (there are a few stools and shelves but that's it) or anything close to a restaurant because it's not (although you eat better than in many proper restaurants..). Nothing negative to report about Paneria, in fact I went back there a couple of times during my week in Rome. Definitely recommended!! +++++
