Our first,of several, visits to Dino's was in 2009.We had asked our hotel host for a restaurant that featured authentic Italian food and was directed to go there. We sat near the entrance, and it became apparent that neither Dino, nor us, could understand our individual languages. So,Dino took a local's order and returned motioning for us to follow him .I got the impression that he was moving us to some back room to hide us,however he took us back to the kitchen where his relatives prepared the food. His sister,I believe, began pointing to the assortment of foods and kept asking us if we liked it.We thought she was just asking what we thought of the foods in general .Then,Dino came and escorted us back to our table and soon everything that his sister had shown us appeared on our table to eat ; chicken sausage, pasta and meatballs .They added a fruit cup and Lemonchello on their own.We felt obligated to eat everything and ended up stuffed ,but it was all so ,so good .They don't give you a check but simply write on the paper tablecloth the amount ,which gave us a laugh .It was a great meal with hugs from all the kitchen staff and a picture with Dino.I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Rome for a friendly good time !

We ate here on recommendation of our Airb&b host. We can’t understand why anyone would think it either touristy or pricey. Three of us ate heartily - primi (fettuccine) secondi (meatballs), artichoke and roast potatoes, and dessert (homemade tiramisu) plus a bottle of wine, all for 80 euros. And yes the bill was written on the table cloth and the menu was a handwritten note passed from table to table. Lovely family run place and when we were there only Roman (local) customers. This place is real Rome.

We came here based on a relative's recommendation and were not disappointed. We were traveling with an eight year old and arrived early, around 6:30. The owner/manager was very friendly and took our drink orders. My daughter wanted fanta, and a few minutes later he came back in from purchasing some down the street. We didn't have a preprinted menu. As we were drinking our wine, he was sitting at a table near ours talking to a woman in the kitchen in Italian, fervently writing as she spoke. He walked over to us immediately after and set down the note pad and began telling us our dinner options. My daughter was set on spaghetti and meatballs and he assured us she could get them even though it was not on the newly written menu. After we ordered, he brought us a plate of cheese and cured meats. Our meal was satisfying and delicious. We then had some tiramisu for dessert, also good. We chatted with him intermittently and he was very friendly. He brought some homemade lemoncello with the check, handwritten on our tablecloth. We felt catered to all night and had a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend.

Absolute rip-off!
Mediocre food and service, yet for 2 people ordering 2 soups and 2 tapas size dishes and a bottle of water and having to pay €50 is definitely not worth it!

Don't recommend visiting or visit at own risk and ask for prices upfront.

Four of us had lunch here and loved every minute of it. Tiny place where they create the menu based on what's available and it's handwritten on notepaper. I disagree with the earlier review that said it was a tourist trap. I agree there are no prices listed, and it's possible we were charged more than a local, but for 70Euro there were 4 meals, two bottles of wine, one large bottle of water and 4 desserts that were probably complimentary, but to die for. We were happy to be there and they were happy to have us. Very little English spoken but enough we could communicate; we did get help initially from a customer that spoke English, and also a smartphone translator or two...but one of our best experiences in Rome. We would go again!!
