The apartment was clean and recently refurbished, some of the finishing needed a more professional touch, as some things did not work, like the exhaust fan for cooking and taps in bathroom. One bedroom was a child's room (toys) with smaller beds. The location is in a working class area off the main roads. It may not be suitable for women traveling alone. We did not meet Esposito, the owner but he was prompt with returning emails and making arrangements for us, that was excellent. Overall the apartment was suitable for two couples or a family of 4. A decent kitchen, TV and shower were excellent. Located a 20 minute walk from main train station and subway, sporadic buses are available at the end of the street. Traffic of course is chaotic in Naples, so watch yourself ...........
The owner never came & met us to let us in. a cleaning lady that spoke no English let us in & gave us the keys. Instead we were met by a police detective that told us we were in danger in the neighborhood & shouldn’t stay there if we didn’t want to be hit over the head & robbed. We left the key at the hotel the owner works at & never stayed there not even for 10 minutes. We were not offered a refund even though services were not rendered. I feel like I was completely mislead by the owner & now know why he requests payment in full ahead with no cancel or refunds offered, I feel sorry for anyone who has booked this property. I have stayed at Many Many BNB/apartments in other countries as well as in Italy & have never had a police detective meet us instead of the owner & been made to feel like I should fear for my life. To say I am disappointed in a huge understatement. I feel like I was completely ripped off & am disappointed that the owner didn’t offer to refund my money based on the fact he provided nothing to us but trouble & added expenses as we had to scramble to find other accommodations last minute. Not only was it financially draining but it was very emotionally draining as we were lost in a new city, in an unfamiliar country with no assistance from the owner. I have never encountered this lack of professionalism with any AirBNB/Codo owner in any of my travels. If he even bothered to show up at check in as was guaranteed we would have been able to discuss this in person as professionals.
