This hotel is placed right by the sea in front of the Vesuvio Volcano. It’s a very strategic location but the hotel is very old and the rooms would need a thorough refurbishment. Having said that, the terrace for breakfast has an incredible view worth a visit.
The rates are also somehow on the expensive side.

We booked Hotel Miramare as a last minute idea so we could be close to Naples airport for an early flight. So really didn't look into the hotel much just lucky that we got a bed!
Upon are arrival the staff were very helpful taking our luggage to our room (101 if I remember correctly) and directed us to the underground secure parking a very short walk round the corner.

The rooms are very dated but very clean. We had a funny smell in the room which was coming from the aircon unit we think. A little stale. When we rung down the staff advised they would have a proper look once we went out which we were happy with and the issue was resolved.

We had to also ask for travel adaptors as although we had a few different ones none would work in any of the sockets. Again the staff kindly provided us with one suitable for our UK plugs that fitted the wall sockets.

As a crash pad this place is fine. Again I can't fault how helpful and friendly the staff were just we wouldn't rush back to the hotel.

Easily accessible from the airport by taxi. Very centrally located in the nicest upmarket part of the city. Greeted by a friendly receptionist who when asked for directions presented us with a map and gave us simple directions for the day.

Hotel magnificently decorated with old antiques and old photographs of past life in Naples which upon looking at closer, the receptionist offered their history and the hotels place in that history.

Whisked to the elevator by an amazingly friendly member of staff who despite not speaking english, ushered the phrase of many locals with a hearty grin "solo Neapolitan" which basically means I speak no english - i adore Naples and i am going to use 100 hand gestures and facial expression to convey my meaning, which you can't fail to understand.

The whole faded grander of the hotel, which is an old palace, is summed up by the old style lift, which travels at a very fast pace which sums up the whole city itself.

The room and bathroom, though small, are full of character and out room had 2 amazing balcony accessed via old style shuttered french windows which filled the room with light and the benefit of a sea breeze and beautiful unsurpassed view of the bay of Naples ( no extra cost).

The bathroom, resplendent in blue had everything anyone would need. Ample towels and toiletries even down to disposable tooth brushes. Upon inquiring if we could view the rooftop terrace which was not open at the time, the same friendly member of staff who tool us up in the elevator gladly took us there and even though it was not open at the time, offered us a drink. The view - uninterrupted view of Bay of Naples and frankly amazing.

Breakfast - wide selection of local breakfast treats, some of which we had never seen in Italy before and must be local specialities.

This hotel is an eccentric old lady of Naples, extremely confident and happy in who she is. An overall extremely pleasant stay with staff full of advice and help. I would highly recommend staying here. However, if you want a northern european hotel, this does not reptant to be that and never will. This hotel, is as its staff, Solo Neapolitan.

A turn of the century grand villa on the seafront of the Lungomare area. Faded charm is the best description of the decor, but the welcoming and friendly staff make up for any shortcomings of the decor. The breakfast is an extensive buffet served outside on the third floor terrace with great views over the bay , Vesuvius and the port towards Capri and Sorrento.

Not very well served by Public transport, it is within easy walking distance of the Piazza Plebiscito and the Port. Great little trattoria castle d'ell ovo only a 5 minute walk.

This is the second time I've stayed here and each time it's been a delight. This is not a 5 star hotel but it feels like it as the staff are so friendly and helpful. Also the views from the roof terrace are the best in Napoli. Whilst some parts are a bit tired there is plenty of quirky pieces to smile at. I love the old elevator it really takes you back inn time. Enzo Bibi and the dog Krug are fantastic hosts. I will be back again.
