Owner description: This square of the people (plebiscito) is the largest in Naples and the site of two admirable monuments of the city: the Naples Royal Palace and the Church of San Francesco di Paola.

The Piazza at night lights the columns different colors. It is cool. I highly recommend singing James Dean's That's Amore here, in old Napoli that's Amore!

Thank Grant I

Feeling mobility challenged, we walked from the cruise terminal up the hill to the Piazza. Interesting memorial to immigrants just outside the cruise terminal. Then past parking lots and across a main street along a construction project on one side and an old castle on the other up the hill to a busy commercial area with old buildings such as the royal palace and the theater (the royalty could pass through without going outside). Scads of student groups from around Europe on spring trips. Street vendors with wares spread along the sidewalk or in small hand carts. Amazing how fast the purses, scarves, dvd’s, etc disappeared when it started to rain and the umbrellas for sale came out. Where did they have them stored? Just fun to see the people as well as the architecture. No lines and not much info so read up on it first.

The main square in Naples, its rather large and uninspiring, although the buildings around it are nice, The Royal Palace, and The Basiilica, with its lovely columns. 2 nice statues are located here also.

This was very close to the hotel we stayed in and it is a bustling area. Loads of shops and restaurants.
