Decumani is situated in two floors of a Palazzo, formerly owned by a noble family, the Sforza Family of Milan.
It is in Via S. Giovanni Maggiore, in the historic quarter, close to many shops, bars and restaurants in Via Dei Tribunali and Via S. Biagio Dei Librai. It is also close to the Museo Nationals where the treasures of Pompei are kept.
Meticulously renovated in the style of an 18th century villa, pride of place goes to the breakfast room with its vaulted ceiling, gold painted baroque style plaster on walls and ceiling. The breakfast was a choice of fresh fruit, muesli and yogurt; fresh local produce such as mozzarella, ricotta, salami, breads, meats and cheeses; fresh pastries and cakes such as sfogliatella, ricotta cake with candied orange, lemon cake.
We had a room on Via San Giovanni, which was fun and lively to look at from the small balcony. if you want some piece and quiet, ask for a room facing the internal courtyard. The rooms are well appointed, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms luxurious. I loved the tiling in the bathroom, the soft towels and the porcelain washbasin sitting on an old wood shelf.More
