We had lunch with friends who loved it here. Service and food were fabulous. My husband and I returned for dinner a few days later and enjoyed it very much. The food quality is great and the experience is terrific.

This was a terrific meal. The tone was set right off the bat when the owner brought lovely wool shawls for the women to wear on this cool October evening. Grilled octopus was delicious as were the salads. Fresh sea bass was superb- same for the pasta dishes. They brought a dessert sampler for us gratis that included terrific cannoli. All served with grace and professionalism in a setting overlooking Capri's famous "needles."

If we had not gone back for a second visit, I would probably have rated this restaurant higher. The food was good and the location divine. However... We were in Capri for four days and as it was close to our hotel, we chose Villa Margherita to have dinner on our first night. It was a warm evening and we had a table on the large, beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Service wasn't that enthusiastic at first but the waiter seemed to warm to us. There were lots of first course dishes that sounded delicious but we had been travelling all day and decided we wanted an early-ish night. We had one main course each, turbot for me, rack of lamb for my friend, followed by fruit and cheese, with a bottle of Prosecco. Both main courses were delicious and there was the bonus of being given very good petits fours with our coffee. We were overcharged for the Prosecco but it seemed a genuine mistake which was quickly rectified and we decided to come back the next evening and try the first courses. The next night was chillier with a light rain. We were shown to a good table inside. Not the prettiest of restaurants inside but fine enough. Our waiter from the night before recognised us and was very pleasant. The owner too recognised us and was initially chatty and attentive. First course good, second course good. We were in the mood to try a dessert but needed a pause. When we told the waiter this, he looked put out. There were many other occupied tables in the restaurant and a few empty ones so we knew we were neither keeping the staff, nor depriving the restaurant of the chance of two more covers. And it wasn't late. We had also ordered a second bottle of Prosecco half way through our second course and had at least half of this left. The waiter went away. A few seconds later a different waiter came along and asked us if we wanted dessert. We repeated we would like to wait a few minutes before ordering. He went away. Almost immediately the first waiter came and asked us again while putting down a plate of petits fours. We repeated that we were not ready to order dessert or coffee and asked whether we were perhaps causing the kitchen a problem. If so, when we were ready we would choose something cold. He said there was no rush but by now we were feeling irritated. The waiter went away. No more than half a minute later a third waiter came up. His attitude was aggressive and he was brandishing a pad, the first time we'd seen any of the waiters with a pad. He stood very close to the table, flicked over a page and snapped, 'Dessert?' Unfazed but deeply irritated by now, we said again that we would like a pause. He scowled, which seemed outrageous, and went away. This decided us. We were not in the mood to pursue our line of choice or to complain and we asked for the bill. When it came we had again been overcharged for the Prosecco. My friend had also had a portion of roast potatoes as a side dish and was surprised to see he'd been charged E12 for this - it seemed excessive. He raised both of these points with the waiter. About the potatoes the waiter said, 'Ah well, I know in England you could get two portions of fish and chips for that but this is Capri.' I have never been spoken to so rudely or been so patronised in any restaurant in the world, and I consider myself to be fairly well travelled. I eat out regularly in London, where I live, and am used to paying high prices in excellent restaurants. Our bill that night was E176 - hardly slumming it I'd have thought, even for Capri. Maybe unawares we had made some awful transgression. But the owner/manager was nowhere to be seen and we didn't feel like asking to see him. The overcharge on the Prosecco was adjusted with very poor grace and overall this particular meal left a very bad taste in the mouth.

Really loved this place, really friendly helpful staff, great wine recommendations.

Lovely to sit out on the terrace in the shade, set in a quiet corner of main town Capri 2 or 3 minutes from the boutique shops.

Pleased to find that the toilet facilities are immaculate with great soaps and individual cotton hand towels.

The seafood risotto was perfect. Would definitely return, think this is a family business as the staff were interested and charming.
