This apartment was ideal for our family of 5 - One grandmother, 2 parents and teenage boys.
It had everything we needed - decent kitchen, decent shower, 2 toilets and big bedrooms. Also it had sufficient wifi for the kids. The outside balcony was lovely and quiet although too hot to use in the day. Inside the dining room was big and looked onto piazza tasso. It was noisy late into the night but the atmosphere was great so we didn't mind that.
When we were there it was hot, really hot, even at night the temp was above 30C and it was humid which took a bit of getting used to, even with the fan and the portable aircon unit. However as the locals were complaining about the heat we think that usually this wouldn't be so much of a problem.
Mario was brilliant. Friendly and recommended places to eat and see around. He was also very flexible with when we arrived and we left.
The apartment was ideally situated, we'd stay there again, but maybe not in the height of summer!

We really enjoyed our stay in Apartment Melany and for those who want a central location in Sorrento, it is ideally situated. It’s on the second floor of a block overlooking Piazza Tasso and the Corso Italia, a short walk to trains and buses. It’s close (vertically) to the port for ferries, (but for those who do not want to walk down steps and steep roads there are buses that go down to the port). Restaurants, cafes and food shops are literally on the doorstep and it is very close to the old part of town. The main drawback of the location is that it could be noisy, particularly at the weekend (although the square and Corso are closed to most traffic in the evening). Bells from the church opposite ring out at 7.00 (not always heard) and 8.00 (always heard), so you don’t need an alarm clock!
The apartment is very spacious and airy (although there is no built-in air-conditioning, which we would have appreciated as it was quite hot and humid when we were there). The bedrooms are large with high ceilings and tiled floors with comfortable beds; two of them have large windows with tiny balconies which look out onto the square and the Corso. There is a good dining room with large window and tiny balcony overlooking Piazza Tasso. However, the lounge area is quite small and dark with a single sofa that only seats three – not that we ever sat there.
The kitchen was adequate, but lacked some equipment. Its only worktop was very small and we had to buy a sharp kitchen knife and a gas lighter for the hob. There was a washing machine and iron, but no ironing board. The bathroom is small but works well and we appreciated having a second separate WC with wash-hand basin.
There’s a good sized south facing terrace area at the back, with four comfortable chairs, two sun-loungers (one of which was broken) and a table and chairs for eating outside. It was pleasantly tranquil, but we didn’t make much use of it due to lack of shade in a morning and at lunchtime.
The agent, Mario Acanfora, has excellent English and was very welcoming and helpful. He fixed a couple of minor problems willingly and quickly. He also had some good recommendations for restaurants.
