This hotel is lovely, spacious and ideal for families, we selected this hotel for my daughter her partner, 1 year old baby and my teenage son, they loved it apart from the noise at night from the doors closing which did wake the baby, rooms are generous in size, they had 1 room with a double bed, single bed and a cot but plenty of room, bathroom lovely with a bath and shower, aircon worked well, wi-fi was good.
The pool was beautiful again ideal for families, very clean with poolside bar were drinks were very reasonable, food was good and again not overpriced. Plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and lots of shaded areas to escape the heat which while we were there was into the 40`s.
A big problem occurred on a couple of nights, the fire alarm went off, the first night this wasnt too bad as it went off quite quickly but on the last night of the stay there was a major power cut throughout Sorrento, the fire alarms went off, everyone evacuated but there was no clear co-ordination, eventually all clear was given however someone must have forgotten to reset the fire alarm as it went off then back on all night resulting in no sleep for anyone all night which made for a difficult journey to the airport etc as everyone was tired.
Hopefully the hotel will learn from this and put some extra measures in place.
There is a shuttle bus to and from town, this bus is free and the drivers are outstanding, one evening my daughter, partner, baby and my son were waiting for the bus they had arrived in good time but as the bus arrived everyone pushed past them and got on the bus resulting in no room for them, the driver noticed this and used hand gestures to say he would return in 10 minutes which he did, he also did this on another night which was much appreciated.
All in all a good place to stay.

Perfect location, great views, lots of outside space to sit around the pool or generally in the grounds,
free bus shuttle service was excellent as wouldn't wish to walk down the roads, quite busy not many paths.
Food was very good, enough choice and plenty,
Staff all very helpful, we when Thompson travel and Amy excellent Rep full of energy and always ready to help and advise.
very clean hotel throughout.
Would be very happy to return

Firstly this is the only downside to this hotel and that is the amazing hairdryers!
They literally look like something out of the 1960's and my advice to all travellers is to go and buy a travel hairdryer from Argos.
The pool is spotless and there is always lots of sunbeds readily available, except for a Sunday when the locals are also allowed to use the pool and it becomes abit cramped.
The rooms are also spotlessly clean and the view we had from our room was simply the very best view i have ever had from a hotel, we looked straight over the bay of Naples and onto Vesuvious. If you book with Thompson, like us, please pay the extra fro a sea view i promise you will not regret it.
The shuttle bus is always ontime and the drivers are very friendly and this is an exceptional service and i thought was a fantastic extra for the hotel.
Food...well the food is good it was always hot and there was plenty of choice. If you wanted to you could swap your evening meal for a meal by the pool at lunchtime, and we did this on a couple of occasions.
Trips- Capri was an absolute must! It was expensive but well worth the money.
All in all i think this hotel is a 3 * and i would recommend it. Would i go back probably not as there are other hotels in Sorrento i would like to try, but overall good value for money.

Room Tip: Buy a travel hairdryer before you go to this hotel!!!!

In the hotel details from Thomson holidays is says this hotel is 20 mins walk to town. Not true on two counts. The walk route is very dangerous on road with no footpath and secondly it is more than 20 minute brisk walk which is very challenging coming back up the hill in the sun. The hotel is fine, rooms are bright fresh and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful, Food is mediocre, they try to present nicely and sometimes succeed. Variety is good , best nites are when then have buffet, but eat early to make sure you get the good stuff!

Room Tip: always go for sea view (highest floor possible)otherwise other rooms are rubbish with view looking at walls

Take the negative comments with a pinch of salt for this hotel.
This was a throwback for me to the 1980's/90's when holidaying with family as a kid. At first it seemed stuck in a time zone.
Spent 2 weeks here and we're fairly satisfied with it although some small additions & improvements could be done.
It is "Grand" in a sense, when you walk into the reception but some quality is missing to make it that 4* rating it needs to be. However, we did notice other hotels with "Grand" in the name......a common feature or just trying to fool the public?

Rooms- as expected really, could do with a little modernisation perhaps but clean. You have to pay extra for a view of The Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius. We didn't & got a view of the gardens. No problems for us as its quieter. A balcony light would be useful.
There is Sky TV with enough channels to keep you entertained if needed. Air con is easy to work also.

Food- Didn't really have a problem with the food. I think a buffet service would be better though (personal preference). Breakfast could do with more variety for hot food. Same stuff every day. If you're half board you can swap your evening meal for something off the lunchtime menu, which we found to be very nice.

Staff- never had a problem with any of them. All very polite, courteous and helpful to us. From the Reception staff to the cleaners and the driver of the shuttle bus to take us all to town and back.

Small additions? - kids stay here too and there isn't any entertainment for them such as a games room. To be honest, the adults could do with a pool table, table tennis etc too! There's plenty of room for that to be done.
There is wifi available, though it turns out folk with Samsung's had trouble connecting....somewhat baffling.

Pool- it's a good size pool- how big do you need it to be? with enough space for sunbathers. A small pool too for the little kids and built in jacuzzi.
But for some reason the pool area appears to be very busy at the weekend. A lot of Italians/locals seem to use the pool. Whether they're charged to do so, im unsure.

Overall, it's a clean and fairly well run and maintained hotel.

But like so many other holiday makers, we're always going to compare this with other hotels we've been to.
This was nice/ok. It doesn't match up to others of 4* rating I've been to, but don't let that put you off. I can see this place improving, there is an upgrade planned apparently.
