“Absolutely a shocking experience, awful, unfriendly staff, breakfast basic”
Reviewed 4 September 2011

We unfortunately stayed here for 4 nights, as you will see by my photos the room was dirty, shower tiles had mould, ceiling peeling, power points not fitted properly. Broken dining chair, chips on walls, whole place could do will a good paint job. Fridge dirty, kitchen benches had dirt and insects on them, open space where oven used to be, not attractive, had to wash dishes before I used them. Just a terrible experience! But certainly did not complain to management as they told me upon checking in that they had given us an upgraded room...hate to see the others! Only good thing was the view..which was amazing.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else...is the best tip I could give you, even at the price it was not worth it!

Having read all of the reviews of this hotel before I booked, I thought that I had a good idea of what to expect and that it would be a great base for my husband and I and our 3 children.
Everyone had mentioned that it is a long way from Sorrento, which it is. There is a regular bus service, but do not expect it to be cheap. With three children, the journey to and from Sorrento cost 25 Euros per trip, which soon adds up! At peak times the buses are often full and won't even stop, so you could be forced to travel by taxi - 40 Euros. We hired a car, but you do take your life in your hands! The Italians drivers have a reputation for a good reason!
The hotel is a long way above Sorrento, so the views of the bay are amazing and the terraces are lovely to sit out on. The rooms are actually quite nice and clean enough, with fresh towels every day. An extra bed had been added to our room and there was still plenty of room for 5 of us.
The little kitchen area in our room however, was poorly stocked, with only enough crockery and cutlery for 4, despite our repeated requests. It would also have been great to have had a kettle at least!
The worst thing about this hotel for us was the staff's attitude towards children. We travelled with another family and between us we had 5 children, aged between 8 and 13.
Our trip was a short 5 day educational one for our children - giving them a chance to visit the volcano and roman ruins. We were therefore out for most of the day, but whenever the children were in the hotel the staff never missed an opportunity to tell them off. The told not to splash in pool because it upset the sunbathers, to be quiet in the pool at this time of night, although it was only 6pm and that they were talking too loudly on our terrace whilst they were playing cards. We tried talking to the manager about this but he wouldn't listen. He knew the ages of the children when we booked and this hotel should not be advertised as family friendly.

Room Tip: Request a sea view and remember to take w/u liquid and cloths for the the apartments.

Just got back from a six night stay .enjoyed the holiday the hotel was beautifully located and the buses to and from were reliable . Pool was cool but we used it after a hot day . Owner was great and helpful and breakfast fine. Only issues were that there was noise as Walls were thin and we did get woken up . Kitchen very useful but with basic utensils -take a bottle opener ! Would go again to this hotel as it is well located and close to every thing which you can easily do by bus

This hotel is in the hills above Sorrento. Great views of Mt. Vesuvius and the bay. We had a car, so getting to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast was easy. There are buses that can take you to both areas if you do not have a car. The owners were friendly and recommended a "farmhouse" up the road for dinner. Great experience. Our friends had an adjoining room. We both had patios that looked out over the beautiful bay.

Outstanding views from the terrace, and also from our balcony.

Nice helpful staff, the owner and the woman in the reception. Also the "breakfast woman" and the cleaning woman were very nice and helpul. They all did speak understandable English too!

Fresh breakfast, nice breakfast room with view. Clean room, comfortable bed and pillows. We didn´t use the kitchenette, but it was well equipped. The tv in the room was too small to watch, but close to the reception there is a bigger tv. (We don´t watch tv anyway on vacations). Near the reception there is a small bar were you can order fantastic café latte, cappuccino, and alcoholic drinks. And then sit outside on the teracce in the sun set... amazing.

No restaurant at the hotel or nearby, but they have a free pic up service to two restaurants (4 minutes drive from hotel). The restaurant "Il Bargo" had great food, staff and views. (It´s best to reserve a table if you want to be sure to sit outside closest to the see - the best views). The other restaurant (don´t remeber the name, maybe something with "Villa" I think) had spectacular views but the food was just ok and a little bit overpriced. I think you should try that one anyway, just for the views if you sit outside closest to the sea! Both restaurants are perfect for romantic couples, even though I travelled with my son. Free return to hotel after dinner of course.

The only negative about the hotel is that the (not so private) balconies only has sun in the mornings, but probably you are out exploring Sorrento, Capri, Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast during the days... An advice is to take the "Green line tour" (7,50 euro, takes about an hour, leaves several times a day from Piazza Tasso in Sorrento town). Look for women in dark green caps on the piazza, they sell the bus tickets.

Another advice is to NOT take a taxi from the train station to the hotel - although it´s just a 10 minute drive it costs 45-50 euros! The buses work fine, but I would recommend to rent a car - but only if you are an experienced driver...

If my money now wasn´t gone for a few years forward - I would soon return to the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms 1-6 has the best views. (We stayed in number 4)
