Me and my family have just returned home after a trip to Rome and Sorrento. While in Sorrento we stayed in the Emperial Tramontano hotel and couldn't have had a better time.
The hotel was beautiful, with so much history. Rooms were lovely and spotless. We had great breakfasts every day, with very friendly service and 'to die for' chocolate filled croissants! Not good for the figure!!!
And the lovely staff could not have been any more friendlier and helpful, on hotel information, day trips or just going out in Sorrento. Even helping me with a running route to go on.
I would recommend this hotel 100%
Kerrie.

Room Tip: All the views where good. It was sea or gardens. Both beautiful.

The hotel has a perfect location for the main square of Sorrento where there are numerous restaurants. It has fantastic views of Vesuvious and The Bay of Naples from the dining room and the sea view rooms. All the staff were friendly and obliging. The breakfasts were good with a huge assortment of pastries. We ate in the restaurant on our last day as a treat and weren't disappointed, the food was delicious and beautiful presented. The gardens were beautifully maintained and a pleasure to sit in. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view balcony

We had a lovely break 16th to 23rd October in Sorrento. The hotel was really well situated just 5 minutes walk from the town centre. It was immaculately clean, the staff were very polite and efficient, and the place runs like a well oiled clock. The room was comfortable and quiet, with a good air con system that was turned off towards the end of the week due to the cooler weather. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool, and we're very pleased. The room was efficiently cleaned every day, and the cleaners even tidied up and folded our clothes which was a really nice touch (we left a tip!).
Lots to see and do in the area, we toured the Amalfi coast (beautiful and breathtaking), took a short train trip to Pompeii, and went on organised trips to Herculaneum and Vesuvius (the troublesome neighbour!) all of which are a must.
Capri is picture postcard perfect, and again a must see. If you want to soak up the atmosphere without many tourists book a room to stay over on the island, as the last boat whisks away the madding crowd around 5:30 pm!
The restaurants and bars in Sorrento are lovely and varied, generally all Italian. Our favourite was the Restorante O Parrunchiano, which is simply wonderful! When you go (and you must!) please pass my regards onto the very kind and attentive waiter Franko, a lovely chap (I promised him a mention!).

I spent 10 days in Sorrento recently, at this hotel. It is decorated in the grand baroque style and gives the appearance of elegance but on closer examination, it is fraying at the seams. The room I had was at the end of a very, very long hallway, and although there was an water view, which was gorgeous, it was a very small room that had seen better days. But it was clean so that mattered. The restaurant offered a very good buffet breakfast and the dinners were good. But the portions at dinner were very small. Water, wine and any kind of beverage was over and above any prepaid food. A bottle of water was 4 Euros which in Canadian dollars, came out to $6...a bit pricey. The service was spotty. The restaurant staff seemed well-trained, but I guess it depended on the moods of the day whether or not you got friendly service. The hotel is well-situated in relation to everything in Sorrento. Just a 5 minute walk to the central plaza and close to the little alleyways with an abundance of shops.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room with sea-side view which are much quieter.

We love this Hotel - it has style, elegance, history and unrivalled service. The Hotel and its furnishings are without compare. The room is elegantly furnished and yet very comfortable. The location is perfect, just a few minutes stroll to the centre of Sorrento, and yet the views of the sea are uninterrupted . The staff are friendly and make all the guests feel really special. A must to stay!
